Is there any merit to a new vacancy of 48 FO and 48 CA?

yup your numbers are correct. You will probably see guys pulled from the pool after the bid closes on the 21st. Then some new hires. All capacity growth with no AC, but the rumor is that is next. Just in time for a strike in April-May.

From what I can remember from the CP:
There are around 35 on voluntary furlough or LOA.
There are around 55 in the pool.
Until we get new aircraft, they say they will only need to hire a few from the pool if all the furloughs and LOAs come back.
Who knows how many will come back or will accept a job from the pool. After that they will need to start interviews.
Aircraft deliveries start in 2011. 7 aircraft I think.

Yeah, but all you are doing is creating a profile. Your friend didn't actually apply for the job, because they haven't posted any FO openings.
