Can labor conduct informational picketing at a private airport? Do the owners of a private airport have to allow labor to demonstrate? Whereas, on a public airport, labor does have the right to access public domains.

Ty Webb- This would be an excellent opportunity for Airtran pilots to conduct informational picketing at this new airport..... it would get allot of local press and raise awareness with passengers. It could get the plight of Airtran pilots in the national eye.

On the other hand, Airtran management wouldn't like it.... but ther real question is.....will the airport let you do it..... I am guessing no. They do not want any "issues" with their new airport. Labor unrest one of them. But since it is not a public airport... you have not even the chance...

Losing the public domian and giving control to a corporation is not good for democracy. What is not good for democracy is not good for labor. Labor needs democracy to succeed. Without democracy we are just indentured servants to a capitialist system... like China. You like China?

Good luck with that contract Ty.... it looks like your pilot group is going to need it! Not because of picketing a private airport.... but becuase you just don't seem to get it....

Yep, picketing at the Branson International Mega-port is at the top of my list! Just think of the lost opportunity of not being able to carry a picket sign around such a thriving labor friendly metropolis.

Oh, and the China thing....genius, absolutely genius!

Chicago Midway's airport is looking at privatization. What's next.... The Hartsfeld? Then again, when was the last time AirTran pilots picketed?


Who do you (or we) think you guys are? For some reason Air Line Pilots think they are the total masters of thier economic world, when in fact, we are simply corporate tools.

You will show up to work and you will fly the jet. No questions asked. Just do it.

The fact is you think you can do allot, but in reality you can do very little and privatization makes you able to do less.

Fact is if Airtran pilots picketed Branson Airport it would be huge for you.... the press and attention to your plight to get a better contract would be priceless. You could purchase better PR.

Airtran only goes to these places because there is an incentive package involved. When the incentive goes away, they usually do too--- ala Myrtle Beach and Gulfport; or one city offers them more of an incentive ala Pensacola vs Valparaiso (Eglin AFB). Other cities are trapped by arrangements made by the city's chamber of commerce-- Wichita...

Or they can add 1 flight a day to jfk, never advertise and then complain about performance, cancel the flight every time it rains and oh wait thats our airline
