It is almost certain that no new base will be added any time soon. Having talked with most of the higher powers that seems to be the case. My crystal ball say no new base until over 125-130 aircraft. That should be in the 1.5 year range at the earliest from now. But I could just like you read about a new base in the USA Today on Monday, so make you own guess. But I don’t see a new base and the cost that go with it any time soon. My own personal agenda would be for MCO as a new base and the -800 to show up in force so all the senior dad’s would get off the 717 and latte I could move over and down, but that’s me being greedy.

That's still up in the air (no pun intended)...but it looks like around August I'll start the battery of tests required to get my medical back. Hopefully, there will be no glitches. After that, if all is successful, then I'll go from there. No use putting the cart before the horse, as they say.

But, no matter what happpens, I think we are staying on the "left coast". It will just make for one really LONG commute if/when I return.

On another topic, I'm trying to bring my motorcycle up from Florida for the start of training. Any good ideas on how to go about this (other than riding it)?

My ideas so far consist of Amtrack or a truck service...

If you are an experienced rider, you'll be able to get out of Atlanta and find some nice riding. The north Georgia mountains, for example. If you are new, watch out. Atlanta has some BAD drivers and deadly interstates that can take all of the fun out of riding a bike.

About my bike, sounds like a scary place to ride one, but for now I have no choice. My car got totaled (by my girlfriend) a couple months ago. All I have for now is my airport car and a Ninja 1000. I guess I have to leave the car for my girl to drive until we get another. I think is better to wait until I start flying the line before I commit to new car payments...
