I've heard of one or two guys from my company getting on there in the past with no 121 time at all. They knew some people who gave them a good recommendation though. I think that's the only way to get around it.

This will become even softer as the year goes on due to the hiring boom and growing pilot worldwide shortage.

Ol Yip....probably right .. only certain years are boom yrs !!! starting to agree with ya !!

mn you heard it ground school back in 99, years ending 7 are great years to get jobs, years ending 2 are not good years to get jobs, or was in 8 and 3? You have to believe.

Will they hire with 135 PIC time or are they set on the 121 PIC time rule of 500hrs?

I have 0 121 PIC time but about 1500 IP/PIC in the Navy Training Command and about 900 PIC in a Lr-35 for a 135 outfit. I just got the call Thursday from a friend of mine that saw my name on 'The List' dated March 9th. Of course it doesn't hurt that I have 7 very strong recs from Captains that I flew with at ACA/Indy Air.

PS. Does anyone have any idea how long it takes from making the list to getting the call for interview?

Got hired at ACA in '02 got furloughed in '05. I believe!

I hope you get the interview soon. I too had the Military PIC versus 121 PIC.

Go Air Force!

GO STEELERS!

The requirement has always read "121 PIC or military equivalent - 500". Based on your post you certainly met the requirement.

So I guess the poster should have asked is anyone getting hired now with neither 500hrs 121 PIC or military equivalent. I have heard of at least one candidate in the current class that does not have either of these. I don't know what other factors may have influenced his selection or if many others are getting selected without it.

IMHO, I also think they will quickly be getting rid of that requirement with the trend in hiring at other 121 carriers. There simply won't be enough candidates to fill there needs that have 500hrs of 121 PIC.

you a phoenix guy?

Had my stuff in there for three+ years, ever since I had the 500 121 PIC. I have met them at AirInc and been told repeatedly they were going to get me in for an interview. I also have two captain walk-ins. No call. Frustrating.

inthewind, how's the Lears treating ya? I heard there have been some changes around your company recently...

Hey I'm not saying for sure, but, if you had your "stuff" in for over 3 years plus two "captain walk ins" without being called.

A. You must have really pi$$ed off SG at some point in the process

B. Someone torpedoed you

C. You have the worst luck of anyone who sent in an application.

D. You included a picture of that dog with your resume. GOD that thing is ugly

I'm guessing you have the SWA pic turbine mins by now. Any luck with them?

A. The one time I met her she was very nice and we had a nice little chat. The other times I have been at an AirInc conference I spoke with the pilots who were there. One of them actually put me in touch with one of my walk-ins when he found out I knew this guy. I can't imagine I pissed any of them off, but you never know.

B. Again hard to know, but other than the two captains I know there, the only others I know have been there less than two years (shorter than I have had my stuff in) and I was on good terms with them (at least I think).

C. Given my history of sending in resumes/applications and not getting calls this seems the most likely. And yes I have had my resume professionally reviewed and told it looks good.

D. Poor Sam, even in death he can't get any respect. He was a threepeat champion though, won the worlds ugliest dog contest three straight years before he died. But no, I dont send his picture in. If he was mine maybe I would. www.samugliestdog.com

SWA is the one place that did call me, but got the big DENIED. We'll see what happens when my year is up.

You sure he wasn't dead when that picture was taken?
