Hey

I am looking for general information and would like to start discussion on AirServ if there are any pilots out there that have knowledge or experience with them and would care to share it!

The bush and humanitarian flying is something I have always been interested in and would like to research. My back ground was the bush.

Thanks for your posts!

That's awesome your considering such a noble type of flying! I'm not a bush pilot but have done a little research on the topic. If you do a search on this site about AirServ I think you'll find a little about them. The best site I have found that covers almost all those missionary/humanitarian flying organizations is http://www.missionaviation.net/index.php (gives pretty good info about each organization but the message board there is kinda week). If your looking for a good collage to prepare for missionary flying I hear Moody Bible Institute is excellent http://mmm.moody.edu/default.asp?SectionID=4EE48C8D1DE64FFE87E212D097F234EF . Also check out JAARS http://www.jaars.org/ (they do some pretty cool bush flying). One really cool thing about JAARS Is they have a huge fleet of Helio Couriers! I have an old AOPA mag that had an excellent article about JAARS pilots (and bush flying in general). If your interested in reading it send me a private message and I will see if I can dig it up and mail it to ya. Basically from what I have found in the research I have done is most places want around 400-500 hours TT, all your complex/high perf endorsements, comm w/instrument rating, and an A&P (at least for the single engine pilots). Obviously a Multi rating w/experience to fly the mult eng planes (unfortunately I can't remember how much time they wanted the multi pilots to have, but search the web and you’ll find out). Also, a few places required a tail wheel endorsement with some experience (no big deal) and preferred a CFI rating. Whatever you decide to do may your life be blessed. Missionary pilots are always in my prayers and who knows maybe one day I’ll end up flyin the bush with ya. Until then God bless you my friend!

Give them a call bro. The two ladies in charge of hiring people are real nice.

I talked to them a few months ago and they weren't looking for pilots, but they did need mechanics.

Nothing compares to work in the ministry... I'm really considering not going back to flying jobs anytime soon. It's real nice not being treated like you are a dime a dozen every day, and I think I like working on the tractor more than I like working on airplanes... Also, there is a lot more singing going on here than at the airport :)
