Chicago

Anyone up for a Cubs Game in Chicago? We would have access to a private party room before the game starts. June, July, August??????

May 7, KRFD, Courtesy Aircraft Hangar. About 9 AM (local). I'll have my FI shirt on, driving my 337. Pancakes, planes, what more could we ask for.

Just ordered my FlightInfo tee shirt today. I'll be there. 9AM. I may fly Decathlon or I may ride my Goldwing.

Wow! What's the story behind that place. Nice planes. What is a 337?

Well, it's actually two different things. One is a field approval for something or other, but basically it's a piece of paper. The one I am associated with is a Cessna 337 Skymaster

As for Courtesy, they are a noted, and notable, dealer of warbirds. Last year we went over, and there were 2 DC-3's out front, a couple of TBM's a Hellcat in the hangar where we were eating. A really cool place to visit.

Oh, and last year, there was an A-26 Invader there. My all time favorite airplane. I suspect that this year there will be at least one Bearcat there. Maybe one SeaFury.

Oh, and if you need fuel while you are there

Go over to Pride, North American,

Nice place, NICE people.

I'll be lookig for you sky37d. But I didn't get my tee shirt that I ordered yet. I'll be flying my red Decathlon and looking for you. 9AM looks good. Wx is good too.

well, UndauntedFlyer and I met at RFD. His plane is very nice.

It was a zoo, though. Inbound, I had filed IFR, and they were actually talking to me. For everyone else, the ATIS said don't get closer than 15 miles without clearance. One guy said, 'I've been holding here for a while, what number am I', and the controller said, "You're number 30". Oh, and inbound they asked me what my speed was, and I was indicating 180. They asked if I could slow to 100. Ugh, not easily.

I was number 8 to get clearance to taxi out, then joined the congo line with aircraft coming from 2 different directions to get to the runway. It was kinda cool to see a Dauphin (L-29) squeeze by another plane, so he could get to the active. Interestingly enough, I was behind another 337 when I finally got to the runway.

Once we got out of the area, it was a smooth trip.

Okay, where's the next fly-in that folks are going to??

Oh, and UndauntedFlyer had his other son with him. Very nice folks.
