Ok, let me first clarify...as other members here I take a peek once in a while to see if there's new pix, no forum trolling for me, however, you're probably noticed that the first 10 or so forums titles appear on the homepage. So this one caught my attention and I simply could not ignore!

Subject: Gay Aviation
http://www.airliners.net/discussions/general_aviation/read.main/1646973/

Read and laugh...or cringe?

Cring, I think....at the stupidity

I didn't read the entire thread, but I got the gist of it. I think someone had it pegged early on; aviation has its share of the homosexual population just like any other profession. However, in my two years of aviation experience, I can't say I encountered many obviously gay pilots. Most had girlfriends or wives, or talked a lot about women, some even hit on me or the other csr's--all pointing to the idea that they aren't gay. I didn't run into many obvious lesbians, either. And even if there are a lot of homosexuals, does it really make it a "gay" profession?

I think for someone to say it's a "gay" profession is pretty stupid and ignorant. By the way, are the folks at airliners.net pilots or just aviation enthusiasts and photographers? Unless they are in the industry, they don't know sh1t, and their opinion is meaningless anyway.

I thought I'd browse it to look for the humor you saw. I noticed ATL2CDG sticking up for "Transgender" persons.
Something along the line of they've fought the same fight that "we" have and they're more simlar than disimilar in "our cause" and he(she?it?)'s proud to see them as "fellow brothers and sisters."

Issues... real issues...

No, I'm sorry - - that's the PC way of expressing what I grew up learning to say:

That's MESSED UP!

so on one of the job interview questions, where they ask you what you would do if the captain asked you to dinner and he showed up in a skirt, they really ment to imply a guy and not a woman? :D

Pilots hit on CSR's!?!?!?!

Say it isn't SO! ! ! ! !

;) :) :D

Atl2cdg!!!

Fellas,

Forgive me for going here- I'm not on the attack... But wasn't it just a short time ago (a month or so) that ATL2CDG was telling us all, in a very public forum, about how hard life was since his wife left him? I mean correct me if I'm wrong, but alot of our bros reached out to this guy in an effort to comfort him over his failed/failing marriage, and now it seems he's working the gay comradery thing over at airliners?!

Screw all of the "anger issues" and "yelling and screaming"... I think his wife split for other reasons. Either way, I'm making no judgement, I just think somebody is full of it... Sup w/dat ATL2CDG?

Jason

pretty much anything that doesn't have a Y chromosome
:D amen to that!

though i find that i, as a pilot, get hit on a lot too! I haven't asked anybody out in the last 7 months, but I have been asked out 5 times in the same time period :p

I was wondering if anyone else would notice the irony.

must be nice bro,
i can't even get girls to give a friendly smile when i smile or nod at them as i walk by in the airport, sup with that?? i know i'm not that great, but i'm no troll for cryin out loud

Oy vey! This too shall pass...

Well, I was wondering how long it would take for the know-all bigots to arrive and start to make commetary on my life and pass judgement. Not that my sexuality is ANY of ANYONE'S concern, my marriage dissolved because of issues completely unrelated to the supposed 'topic' of this thread. I made mistakes in how I treated her. I was penitent. I did those things which she asked to redress my wrongs. She was unwilling to forgive me despite my sincere apologies and corrective actions. We went our separate ways. That's life. I loved her and I still love her, but 'our' life is over.

So, since I'm bisexual, I'm undeserving of the well wishes regarding the end of my marriage and comradery of those who frequent this board? So be it. My life will go on; I'm feeling better and getting stronger everyday. If you choose to call names, make insinuations or pass judgement, those are your rights. I'm sorry if my existence offends you; I'll do what I can to steer clear of you and your family lest my 'coodies' infect you and make you accepting, compassionate people.

In any case, this 'revelation' on my part does not change anything... I'm still the left-wing, pinko, bleeding heart, radical, peace-nik homo that's hated and reviled by most on this board. I would hate to disappoint my biggest critics!

well, besides the 'pilot' thing, i also got the 'foreigner' thing going for me :)

Although i have to admit i turned every single one of those down (despite being single), cause they weren't my type (visually of course :)). Though there is a beautiful blond at the local starbucks i really like - just don't have the guts to ask her :(

Pilots are way to shy if you ask me :)

Well, that too! DUH! ;) I mean, I'm not happy unless I'm pissed at myself for something.

For starters, quit taking pictures of their camel toes.

Where I'm from, a camel toe is a smile! :D

Ohhhh there are plenty of gay pilots... (raises hand) - yet many of us are hard to spot. F/As are a different story usually. I don't think my airline has a straight male F/A. This is a pretty gay industry though. More so than the law enforcement field for instance... or the custodial field.... or the A/C repair field... I'm assuming. Everyone's different who gives a f#ck.

ATL2CDG: How could you pay for a membership to A.net? I've wanted to hop on there and tear apart some of those know-it-alls who post nonsense, but I'm not willing to pay for it. If I have to endure another post from "Scottysair" though, I think I'm going to punch out my monitor.
