I think AAFlyer hit the nail on the head
The hotels took a big risk in working with NWA to provide the rooms given the carrier's financial position, and they didn't do it out of the kindness of thier hearts, they did it simply because they saw a situation they felt they could benefit from/take advantage of.
Hey, their job is to provide lodging to paying customers, but it looks like the prospect of $$ overrode their judgement on how much of a risk they should have taken with the company.
And to answer the second part of the post " no, I wouldn't marry the no good cheating #@#!
