Testing has gone on long enough. Why is the TSA wasting their resources, time, pilot's time, and passenger's time by having pilots go through the full security process when there are viable methods for pilots to get through security such as the process in PIT or BWI? The pilots and pilot unions need to start pushing to get this done. It was promised a long time ago by the TSA. I'm tired of this total waste of time.

I agree 100%. It's a waste of resources, and our time! Crew Pass Now! ALPA already has a campaign pushing this. Have you written anyone regarding this issue? (not counting this message board)

This isn't a spectator sport. Get off the sidelines, and get in the game.

It's getting worse

Effective this Friday, the Newark TSA will include crewmembers in the enhanced screening security measures at Newark Liberty International Airport. Pilots entering through the EWR checkpoints can be randomly selected for shoe removal and Hand-Explosives-Trace-Detection (ETD) screenings.

It's all part of "The GREATEST SECURITY SHOW ON EARTH!".......

(Don't hold your breath waiting on a "fix" for this..... ALPA's been "working" on it since 1988, after a trusted ex ground ops employee, who are still not screened, took down a PSA jet.....)

because thats what the tsa does , they waste our time.... especially the "flight crew"!

I'm with you, Mach 80.

Airline crew members get fingerprint IDs

The CrewPass program also uses an employee database

The Transportation Security Administration has approved standards for a fingerprint identification checking system for airline pilots and crew members, the agency has announced.
Under the system, named CrewPass, eligible crew members and pilots enter a secure area through the exit lane of the security checkpoint after presenting their airline-issued identification and another form of identification to TSA officers. Then TSA employees check those credentials against a cockpit access personnel database.
TSA’s actions are expected to lead to expansion of the identification verification program known as CrewPASS, which began operating at three airports last year as a demonstration program, the agency said Aug. 5.
The Air Line Pilots Association International (ALPA) developed CrewPass in early 2007 to perform identity checks against the existing Cockpit Access Security System personnel database, which includes a photograph. TSA started a pilot project for CrewPass in 2008 at airports in Baltimore, Pittsburgh and Columbia, Ga. In June, CrewPass added a fingerprint identification
“Working together, TSA, ALPA, ARINC [Aeronautical Radio Inc.] and others made CrewPASS a success in its test phase, and soon it will be possible to put it in place at airports nationwide," said Capt. John Prater, president of ALPA.
ARINC is the vendor for CrewPass technology. The TSA also has tested other airline worker identification systems in pilot programs.

SUCH A F'ING WASTE OF TIME AND MONEY.......
Most of us have given fingerprints to our own airlines and or the local airport police dept already just to get a parking permit and or have sida access.

COULD THE TSA JUST USE THOSE PRINTS?

No way , otherwise they wouldn't have the opportunity to waste our tax dollars!

Why.......because the gov't loves to give the illusion that something is actually being done with the huge volume of $$ that is being wasted on the TSA. They hassle pilots and old ladies as "eye wash" to justify their existence. Would you really place much faith in these a$s spelunkers to stop an act of terrorism? Not me

Unfortunately a certain amount of trust is required each day we go to work. They catch the brain-dead morons who try to take down aircraft, but I'm sure we all agree any real, credible planned threat will have to be stopped beforehand by the likes of FBI, NSA, CIA, etc.

TSA = Security theater. They're only harrassing people to demonstrate the government is "doing something" about terrorism. In the mean time, the rampers are going through doors in the bagwell completely uninspected.
