Airline Pay Rate Comparison

I'm sure some of you may have seen this in the Regional forum, but I'd like to get some pay scales from Majors as well.

If a first officer has served at AirTran for 3 years and is being upgraded to captain, is his salary a 3 years of service captain salary or do the years of service start over for salary purposes.

All pay rates at AirTran are based on years of service with the company, ie: if you upgrade after three years of employment, your pay goes to 4 year capt rate.

These #'s are very accurate however when you go to the particular airline and get the yearly #'s they are purely based on flying the minimum hourly guarantee. While being on the conservative side, most of the pilots at the airlines listed fly about 85 hours a month. In Airtran's case, I can tell you that first year pay will be closer to 45,000 and second year pay around 65,000 as a first officer and that is not flying on days off or picking up any extra trips. I would imagine the same applies to the other carriers listed. I know an ASA pilot who is in his 7th year and usually has 15 days off flying 80 hours.

All in all, the information is very accurate and if you use the exact #'s he gives for yearly compensation, you will be very conservative in your estimates which might be a good thing to tell an ex-wife but not a loan officer.
