Im sure that this has already been asked but - What are the magic numbers at Air Tran right now? If someone isn't close to them should they still send in an app just to show interest and update or wait until they're a bit closer.

Also, whats quality of life like? Is commuting possible or is it a bad idea?

Thanks for the info.

Not sure about the numbers ? Most of the newer folks I've been working with with have solid regional captain, military , and furloughed legacy backgrounds... Just guessing ... from BS'ing .. most have over 4-10K hrs....

I commute. Its my understanding that about 1/2 of our pilots commute. Its not too bad if the station is served by our birds. Obviously it is easier on the body if commuting from say RDU or CLT.. ie somewhere close. However, I know of a few folks that commute from SEA and PHX...

I'd say apply... Go to the Job Fairs and network... Most regional guys seem to know someone inside AirTran's doors. I heard that hiring was gonna keep pace with the past few months. Strictly rumor. Good Luck. Its a pretty good place to work.. Easy going, safe, and professional pilot group.
