Just got a call from Air Tran for an interview on the 23rd. Does anyone know how long the time lag is between interviewing and possibly getting a class if you are selected for a job? Last year it seemed like the time lag was quite long. Can you ask for a later class if you are unable to attend one on short notice?
Also any recent insight into the time to upgrade would be appreciated.

For those who are interested in my qualifications. I have about 12000 hours as a pilot or F/E. I am typed on the B757, B767, B737, B727, and the DC9. I do have a good chunk of PIC time on the B717 which probably helped with recieving the interview. I had one new employee walk in a resume and LOR last year and attended the Jan AirInc job fair in Dallas, where I spoke with the AAI recruiters for some time. I pummeled them with e-mail resumes last year but have not sbmitted anything since March of this year as I currently have a good flying gig.

Thanks;

Helmsman,

Congrat's. I just interviewed july 15th and our interview class and the one from the 14th got class dates of July 29th and Aug 19th. I don't know about delaying a date, that really didn't come up with us. I think they interview more this week also so they may be working towards filling the rest of the Aug 19th and then one sometime after that.

Interview is straight forward. Do the Air Inc sim prep. you shouldn't have any problems with it with all of your -9/80 time but it is sensitive and gets some getting used too. Interview day would not be the time to figure it out. The interviewers ask if you did the prep also, hint-hint.

Good luck and hope to see you there.

More airTran ?s

c9 or any airTran flyers,

What is the cost of medical and dental per month for a family? The employment section of the airTran web site has the employee paying 50% for the first year (after one months employment) and the company picks-up 60% after the first year. I am currently paying 266 for med. and 22 for dent. which is 33% of the total cost.

Now on to more fun questions:

What's the line on upgrade time?

How about a aircraft delivy schedule?

I saw the new 737 in ATL the other day. Looks great in the airTran colors!

Thanks.

Helmsmen & navyc9,

It's about friggin time that we get a chance to use the "Aviation Interview Board" to talk about Aviation Interviews for a change!!!

My question to you both is what did you provide as availability dates on your resumes? I have heard that they wait until about 2.5 months before your avail date before they look at you, then it can go real fast.

Any other tidbits about the interview?

I'm waiting for the call from them asking "Can you make an interview the day after tomorrow?" I've heard of that happening too.

Thanks!!!

I put down immediate availability. I've had my stuff in for about 1 year and had one of their line check airman tracking my stuff. "The call" came on a Friday afternoon with invites for the following Wed or Thur. have your stuff ready to go. I called Air Inc before I called Air Tran back to make sure I could schedule a sim prep before my interview. i interviewed on the Thursday and the offer call came the next day on Friday. Interview invite to job offer - 1 week. Everyone else I interviewed with all had received the call on that Friday.

the interview was straight forward. See the other gouge sites for info on content. Do the sim prep!!! Have your ten year work history and last ten years of residence and your log books to fill out the application supplement. i got it the day before at the sim prep and filled it out that night in the hotel.

best recommendation is have your stuff together now and be ready to go.

The percentages you quoted are correct, however, you will pay about the same you are paying now for both medical and dental.

Now on to more fun questions:

What's the line on upgrade time?

Right now upgrades are running about 3 years and some change for the 717 and a little less for the 737 (except for the occasional senior guy). That will come down some....they were running about 2 years when we started phasing out the 9's and upgrade time rose some. Now that they are gone we are gaining planes vice trading them in, so look for upgrade time to decrease for a while.

I can tell you the training department is geared up for a class every three weeks for the foreseeable future.

How about a aircraft delivy schedule?

737: Two each for June and July and one a month thereafter.....some options were converted last week, so that schedule may increase.

717: Last I heard 10 more coming by the end of 2005.

I saw the new 737 in ATL the other day. Looks great in the airTran colors!

Hope this helps......

Thanks.

Helmsman--Got your fill of sushi yet? :D Isn't it funny that AT finally gets around to calling you AFTER you've sat on your butt waiting for a phone call for so long prior to getting your current gig?

Anyway, hope you're having fun in your present job. Take care.TC

GVE,

Medical is expensive. The 50%-60% is correct. I pay over $180/mth for my wife and me for the best HMO plan offered through Aetna.

If I had to guess, upgrades will be back around 2-2.5 yrs after the first of the year. 737 CA is going junior to 717 CA (for the most part).

As per todays web-cast, we have 2 737's, 6 more coming by years end and 13 in '05. I believe 8 or 10 new 717's in '05.

No new cities for the rest of '04 (they're actually dropping 2 cities) and 2-3 new cities in '05.
