Just talked to Tammy in pilot recruitment last week. She said it has been averaging about four to six months to get an application, from the time they receive your resume. However, she said the process is expected to get much faster, as they just hired someone that will be reviewing pilot resumes exclusively. Apparently they have a huge stack of resumes and it will be a while before they get to everyone, but it should be a lot less than four to six months.

It's not a government loan, it's a CitiBank loan with the government as a cosigner.
We made the first payment as scheduled and we should be able to make the remaining payments on schedule, which goes through 2007. I believe the remaining balance is about 300 million and we have 500 to 600 million cash on hand.

Hey Guppie, just was wondering if Tammy mentioned anything on the average time guys were getting calls for an interview after sending in their App.

Thanx a bunch!

I spoke to Ms. TK at PHX and she said that 3-6 months is the typical time frame from application to interview.

Good luck...

It depends on who is recommending you. I was able to get a buddy of mine an interview in less than a month. If you have a recommendation from a check airman, it may be less than two weeks.

Four to six MONTHS to get your hands on the friggin' application form ?!?!?!! You mean you can't just pick up one at any ticket counter ?

P.S. FOUR TO SIX MONTHS TO GET YOUR HANDS ON THE FRIGGIN' APPLICATION FORM ?!?!?!?!?

Even going to the Air Inc thing, I think you still have to know someone. I know several people that haven't been called that received app's from there. On the plus side, the app. to interview can be very fast. They called me less than a week after they got my app, and just talked to someone else that had a similar experience. I was rec'd by an average line guy. Looking forward to the July class.

No you can't get one like that anymore!!! It appears that the new trend in pilot interviews is having an "IN" on the inside. If you have a rec from someone who works here and can vouch for you, your chances increase drastically. I had several LOR's from pilots and others before getting a call and I was told it fast tracked!!

Just be patient we are doing some big things over here and more hiring is sure to come...

Wiskey Driver,

<...insert sardonic laughter here...>

At the rate your process is moving, I'd be 60 years old before I could get an interview !!! I used to get in interminable lines behind you guys in PHX; is that an "in" ?

P.S. FOUR TO SIX MONTHS TO GET YOUR HANDS ON A FRIGGIN' APPLICATION FORM ?!??!?!?!

Thanks for the quick reply Guppie. The process has taken a little while longer for me but thats ok, I'm just glad to be able to have my stuff in there.

Thanks again.

For what it is worth, I met with Tracy in January (Dallas, AIRINC). I had to get some serious help from some buddies of mine at the company just to get an application. In my experience, HP will not give you an application unless they are seriously interested in you [either because you impressed someone somewhere or you have inside folks taking care of you]. I filled out my app and am waiting patiently with several thousand other highly qualified candidates. HP is making some serious progress among the Low Cost Carriers and is on a very nice upslope – pick up a copy of the June 2004 Airline Transport World and read about their progress. 1Q 2004 has them with $545M in cash AFTER they made a $74M load payment for the Federal Loan Guarantee. If anyone thinks they can “easily get hired at HP”, I’m here to tell you, the competition is fierce. HP, WN, B6, FL, and FedEx will probably only pick 750 dudes/dudettes from the 10,000 guys/gals who are hoping to land jobs at the Majors this year. If HP is not on your list, you are making a serious mistake. Just my .02

Man I know!! Look I am not making excuses here only presenting what is painfully obvious. We have been hit really hard of late with a growth spurt but unable to interview and train at the rate that we really need to. Now that's no knock on our HR people because they have been really busting A$$ trying to keep their heads above water. I will say this, we need more pilots then many may think, so again be patient...

Is PHX the only pilot base? I know they closed CMH a while back...and PHX is a bit far of a commute for me(out of MCO)...but have they opened any other bases, or plan to in the future?

Wiskey Driver,

...just running my mouth and being a smarta$$...I'm not in line for a job at AWA. Good luck to all the hopefuls.

For now, yes. A VP has said another base is in the works. Rumor has it LAS or the LA Basin. We'd love to have a bigger presence in the East but don't look for a base out there anytime soon.

I had my resume walked in by a 16yr guy just under 3 mo's ago and still no word. I'm hoping the process just takes awhile and that they didn't just throw it out when they saw I was only a couple hundred hours over the mins.

Anyone know of people getting hired without 121 PIC time?

Regardless, I'll keep applying until they tell me to stop...I want to work for my hometown airline!
