Air Inc Job Fair

Hey All,

Fairly new at all this, usually mostly read the forum. I'm sure this may not be the best place for this, but was hoping to get some advice from guys that have made it.

Contemplating on whether to headto the Air Inc Job Fair next month. It's a few $$$, but figure the experience may be worth while.

I have never been to one, and don't really know what to expect. Any advice or heads up. I imagine it a bunch of people standing in line with resumes waiting to talk to a recruiter. Anyone have any success, if so what did you do. Any advice on questions, ways to make yourself stick out to a recruiter, or any other pointers.

They are well worth it.. But Go prepared... make sure that you have the contact info and minimums of all your potential employers there..make sure your resumes are custom made for each carrier... have cover letters with the recruiters names on them..... If you can get references, get them

I know that this sounds obvious, but I have seen people waste their time and money by showing up unprepared

Absolute waste of time and money!!! Ask yourself if you'll really get noticed among the thousand other pilots standing in line??!! Personally, working on a solid connection network beats paying 150 bucks to stand in line. It's all about who you know now.......

I disagree. I went to the aviationinterviews job fair in ORD this summer and met with Rebekah Krone from SWA. I don't have the type, and only 2550 turbine PIC at the time (SWA wanted 3000 turbine PIC before calling non-typed folks in for an interview). She was very pleasant, took my resume, and two weeks later I was called to schedule an interview.

My point is this: even if you're one of 1000, and you bring a resume and cover letter, they'll take those back with them even if they don't specifically remember your face.

Any little bit helps, IMHO.

I agree with those that say go! Definitely NOT a waste of time!! If you dont know somone at an airline it is a way to meet recruiters for yourself.

The conference worked for me. I'm convinced that attending got me an interview that led to my current job. However, do not under any circumstances give AirInc your e-mail address. I've been stuck on their mailing list ever since. I've repeatedly asked them to remove my name but I keep getting job fair notices. Apparently the 'click here to be removed' link just renews your subscription for more unnecessay e-mails.

I got my job solely because of an AirInc job fair. Didn't have a single rec. Hell I almost didn't go, but decided at the last minute. Waited in line forever but they were running late. A bunch of us were sitting around waiting and they came out and said they couldn't see us as they were being thrown out themselves. They took our resumes and all of us got called for an interview.

Lucky? Hell ya, but it happens.

I got my current job by attending. Was interviewed on the spot then brought in to the company for an official one. Well, worth it. What is the worse thing they can say...NO, well if you don't go you got the NO already. Plus, you will run into people you haven't seen in awile and re-connect contact info. That alone is worth it. Good luck with it.
