I have to agree with you. That color scheme must have been chosen by some General's wife the morning after a particularly nasty cocktail party.

I'm not so sure the AF needs a great deal of camoflauge and the outfit may in fact be more functional, but it's god awful ugly. If that gets final approval they'll be the butt of lot of ridicule for a long, long time. It reminds me of a very sick peacock that's been the victim of inbreeding.

Reminds me of...don't the Brits use that same pattern but with different colors? It looks European to me.

I'd have to say it's pretty effective camo. I could have sworn the legs on the guy in that second picture look like an aircraft wheel.

True. I just think it's purely idiotic to give up a good camo pattern for one that is obviously nothing more than a fashon statement. This uniform serves as NOTHING but a "look at me" banner, which is something that I would not want, no matter what branch of the military I was in or what MOS I had. There are still AF bubbas in and around the $hit, and this really doesn't make them any healthier on the battlefield. I haven't been this repulsed by a uniform since the army started giving their cooks berets.

If that were the case, wouldn't they adopt something like the uniform worn by the Vatican's Swiss Guards?

(Now that looks sharp! :D )

All that is missing is the clown nose, wig, and clown boots. Otherwise, you'd have me sold. :)

I have heard a few times at the base that the AF is thinking about switching to this new uniform. Please no!!!!!!!! I think the camo pattern that we have now is just fine.

...but the real question is....

Why did they steal the Corps' 8-point cover design?

SHHHHH!!!! I'm still trying to pretend I didn't see that.

Reminds me of when I was doing my UPT interview with the ANG and I saw some AF dude wearing a MARINE CORPS COVER with his AF BDUs. I don't know where he got it, but he's d@mn lucky that I was walking with my interviewers.....

They can call it Gucci-flage!

It does look European. I think either the Dutch or the Belgians wear something similar in shades of brown.

The Dutch wear the same woodland-type pattern the army does. (at least they did a few years back) There are very slight variations though.

Reminds me of the early 90's in teh USAF when some departing general just "had" to change the style of the flight suits (that had been perfectly fine for 40 years). They fit like tight slacks from the waist down and eliminated the "cigarette pack" pocket. it was ridiculous. We called em "fag bags"

The old OD fatigues were the best (unless they caught fire).

It doesn't look a whole lot different from a subdued tigerstripe, to me. They're probably hot on the heels of the USMC who is going to the new digital pattern with their proprietary own fabric and print. Can't be outdone by the gunny-jones's.

Hey Marinegrunt Jarhead....

This zoomie has seen the new uniform. From the ground and the air. Can't be seen on a tarmac from 500'. We don't climb through the jungle, but we do work on a tarmac. It's better than the drab BDU's. Doesn't require ironing either. Different kind of fabric.

Add to that, for field work, Drab and Desert Camo will be standard issue as well. This is just the uniform of the day and flightline.

Outdone by Gunny Jones? Is that why the Marines still use UHF and VHF radio not Digital Satellite Systems for Com????
