Flight instructing has been a pain for me due to lack of business. It is enjoyable but puttin up with the flakey sh!t sucks. I don't even let it phase me anymore I'm so used to it (B.S. cancellations) I'm hittin the road to tow banners w/ cubs to pick up the lost time. Too bad I won't be getting X/C or night flyin but I'll have fun. Can't wait to pump up the ol MP3 player along the shores. Maybe I'll make enough money to pay for an IPC when I'm done on Labor Day.

I logged plenty of X-C time towing banners in cubs, if you're towing the Long Island or New Jersey beaches it's easy to get X-C time. Just fly at least 50 miles from the departure field without landing, or if you drop the banner and land at another field to pack it up and ferry home, both ways are X-C, I towed for Aerial Sign out of New Jersey and was able to log plenty of X-C time.

That will get you XC towards the ATP cert., but not towards part 135 IFR mins which requires a landing at a point other then the on eyou took off from.

Well that's good to hear. It'll be with Paramount. I'm having a hard time finding someone to give me the freakin endorsement where I live. I'm going to have to travel out of town just to get the TW sign off. Dammit. I already have 6 hours in a 170 but that guy's plane is gone. I'm trying to find someone with a cub close to western N.C.

You're half correct, I stated 2 ways of logging XC time, one of them fits the bill for 135 and one for ATP requirements.

Anyway if he wants to work for ACC as a copilot than he doesn't need to meet the 135 mins, works just like the regionals, only need a commercial multi instrument ticket.

I would also look at Van Wagner (formally known as Aerial Sign) http://www.vanwagner.com/aerial.htm better planes, paramount has some strange 4 -5 foot long metal bar contraption that hangs down from the bottom of the Cub that picks up the banner. The rope and steel hook you throw out the door after takeoff looks a lot safer to me and I've probably made at least 1000 banner pickups and drops using it.
I think they fly out of Lakewood NJ (N12) now from Memorial Day to Labor Day.

Another good banner company to work for is Bunting out of Ocean City Maryland http://www.fboweb.com/fb40/pu/ai/ad.aspx?aptident=4MD1
He's got about 5 Super Cubs, usually looking for pilots for the summer.

330/Sherpa/360

Can you load into the main cabin through the rear door on the 330 or Sherpa? In other words, can you drive a 4-wheeler or snowmobile onboard? What are the differences between the 330/Sherpa/360? I'm typed in a 360 but I've never even set foot aboard the others.

A 330 is a Sherpa A 360 is a 330 and so on.

A sherpa is a 330 with a rear door. A 360 is a 330 with a normal tail and so on.

If it fits it is going to be in the airplane. There is a picture of a 4 door blazer in the sherpa on the company shortbus works for website.

The sherpa has a rear door you load thru. Or the cargo door up front.

Wank

Thats right

The sherpa is the only one of the three with the ability to load over sized stuff. The door in the side is big enough for most pallets and stuff that is long but can be slid in sideways. The door makes it so we can load vehicles...i have not yet flown one but we have a few waiting. We fly large pallets of lumber that are 15 feet long and lots of four wheelers and stuff that would fit in the side door, but going into a lot of places without a forklift we can drop the stuff out the back door and taxi forward and drop a little more etc. The 360 is the best because it can haul the most stuff and is nicer to fly, but the sherpa is needed for some of the stuff we fly. The pain is that the door weighs so much that our useful load kinda sucks.
From the factory the major difference is the rear door better avionics and larger fuel tanks that give it better range...if you can fill them up with the weight of cargo.
