What if all those hub inefficiencies are addressed and corrected....employees start working together....management makes real changes to control costs...you could see some real growth coming your way ....Oh, almost forgot....and sustained profitability....that would help too

I don't know what industry you work in, but it certainly isn't aviation if you think any of those things will take place.

These lame, short-sighted idiots in Congress! They forgot to include raising the ATC mandatory retirement age. Why cap them at 55?

Which one of you would like your New York Approach or SoCal Approach controller be 62 years old?

Hey, after all, since they're not subject to overstressing their circadian rythms by flying through multiple time zones, we should allow them to stay on scopes until 75.

Why not?? They're experienced! :D

I just talked to the guy from ALPA PAC. If you are against this backdoor method of changing the age 60 rule you need to contact your Senators and Representative. There is a chance we can still stop this but it will be difficult. Send and email and make a call.

Andy,
Thanks for keeping up with all the movements of the bills. Written, called and emailed my Senators, also emailed all of my airline buddies giving them the form letter ready to send off to their Senators. I'll deal with any legitimate vote but don't like the idea of this back door legislation. All it means is that they know that it will NOT pass on its own w/o trying to sneak it through.

Tejas & FBJ:

You're half right. Legacies have inefficiencies. Actually, or inefficincies have thier own inefficiencies which we inefficiently nurture. I came to a legacy from a somewhat different line of work that was wildly successful. Two things: I feel like I'm taking crazy pills watching the legacy work, and, easy with the SWA stuff...everything looks good when it's growing...but tough times do come. SWA did not look that great ten years ago; temper yourselves a bit.

We need renewal at the legacies! This rule will stop that. Much of the change that you correctly assert we need will come from pilots with new philosophies and standards, and new ways of doing things. This rule change will place on hold that renewal at an ultra critical moment in time.

These guys need to go. They are no longer equal to the task of presiding over our pilot groups. They just want money. I'm not worried about my own situation. I'm worried about the industry.
