Just got checked out in our aerostar. Great plane, flew it great, had some trouble handling it on the ground. Are the brakes in that thing horrible or was it just our A/C? Any hints on ground handling this thing? Never have steered with a switch. Other than practice and going slow I am out of ideas...

Go slow and practice. It'll come.

Be glad it's not a Jetstream 31. 1000 hrs in that beast and never was able to stop it in a straight line. :)

Never flew an Aerostar. Always wanted to.

aerostar steering

once you get moving set the rpm to 8 or 900 and forget the airplane has throttles and just bump the steering switch periodically. You'll do great

The day I first steered a Lear made me miss that little red rocker switch!!!

I used the "two fingertip" method. Others used their thumb, and moved it back and forth. Whatever you do, you'll get used to it. After you line up and start rolling, it's all rudder.

It's been a while since I drove a Aerostar but.....Try not to use the steering switch on straight taxi ways. Use Diff power and braking. When making turns, Steer with the switch with your right and use the power levers with your left hand. It will take a few hours to fiqure it out, you can always tell a new aerostar driver when the taxi!! Zig Zag!

Good luck
