I'd like to get a course in basic aerobatics.

Someone suggested

Foundation Flyers, Inc.
Lowell Hinchee
P O Box 2252
Umatilla FL 32784
352/409-0971 (O)
352/669-6025 (H)
Cessna Aerobat

Which is pretty close to me and I'm assuming that an aerobat is as cheap an aerobatic plane as I'll find. Anyone have any experience with this outfit?

In Fernandina Beah, FL, there is a Pitts available for aerobatics training.

Do yourself a favor and take a course using a real aerobatic plane. Youll get a lot more out of it. You didnt say where you are exactly but here are the best in Florida and they all use a Pitts

Dave Swartz @ FXE 954-295-3136 Pitts
Aerosport @ SGJ 904-824-1995 Pitts, Extra
Bruce Thallheimer @ APF (941) 261-8422 Pitts

All are competition and/or airshow experienced pilots with good equipment and all can take you through Unlimited type flying and a full spin course. Dave is also a former US Team member. You wont be able to do flat inverted spins in an Aerobat and youll spend half the lesson climbing to altitude.

PM me if you have any specific question on acro or instructors in Florida.

As much as I'd like to get some time in a REAL aerobatic plane my pocket book will let me up in an aerobat or no plane at all.

I don't think it's all bad though, all the planes I fly are as or more underpowered than an aerobat and have a yoke not a stick.

For the record, I do have .6 in a T-6 and it is lots more fun than the aerobat which I have a few hours in as well.

So anybody flown with these guys?

Dave is an great pilot (US Aerobatic Advanced pilot in previous year, missed it this year because of aircraft trouble).

Aerosport is another great operation, extremely expirenced instructors.

Let me throw one more in the hat, the Eagle Sport Aviation club, it's a non-profit aircraft club that has it's own S-2B, last time I checked it was $100/hr wet. All instructors are aerobatic competition pilots too.

Check out their website:

Hi...

Foundation Flyers has a good program and can be tailored to your needs and experience level. Emergency maneuver training, basic aerobatics, etc.

Last I heard, however, they were no longer out of Umatilla. They were operating out of Avion Academy at KSFB. ( The old Orlando Jet facility.)

Good luck.

Regards
