I just heard from a friend interviewing at Eagle that they are plannning on offering second year FO pay from day one. Is there any truth to this rumor? I sure hope so. Would definitely be a sign that the industry is turning around somewhat.
If the typed FO's can't fly as CA then whats the point of this process? Paying for the extra training and an extra $10 an hr get the company what? -BeanWell, just got an ALPA e-mail saying that there is Tentative Agreement that a pre-determined number of F/O's will be typed and receive a $10 dollar overide pay while flying as F/O, and awaiting their CA bid award. It also mentions that we might be going to the 9 month training cycle and that ALL F/O's would be CA typed.
If ratified, the program will work as follows:
1.The company will identify how many type rated First Officers it wants on each piece of equipment.
2.The company will then offer to an equal number of pilots who wish to be type rated on their current equipment the opportunity to do so in seniority order.
3.First Officers who are type rated on their current equipment will not be able to fly as Captains until such time as they bid for and are awarded a Captain vacancy and reach the effective date of their vacancy award.
4.First Officers who are type rated on their current equipment will receive a ten dollar per hour override to their current rate of pay.
5.First Officers who are type rated will receive the appropriate Captain’s pay when they are required to fly as Captains during recurrent training or their annual line check.
Secondly, the FAA is moving toward a nine month training cycle for both Captains and First Officers. If this comes to fruition, the company may choose to type rate all First Officers. This program would assist in accomplishing that task.
Good stuff.
