Anbody happen to catch the pair of vipers over Montgomery County, MD tonight around 1930? Looked like they were circling GAI at one point. I'm assuming they were FS 121 out of Andrews but I didn't get a great look.

They sounded sweeeeeeeeeet.........

Well, THAT's getting to be an OLD story. How many times does this same thing have to happen before some of these idiots pull their heads from their @sses and start paying attention to restricted airspace and TFR's! There's no excuse for it. As far as I'm concerned, you bust restricted airspace to the point you have to be escorted down by the military, you ought to have your ticket pulled permanently, immediately, with no questions asked! All it takes is a simple call to FSS to avoid the biggest part of crap like this, yet there are still pilots who are either too stupid, or too pig headed to do it. Sorry if that pisses anyone off, just my opinion.

Well it looks like you'll get your wish because thats where this country is headed. And if it worked like that, Phil Boyer wouldn't have his ticket anymore because they thought he busted the ADIZ when the radar track proved he didn't.

Unless of course you were the culprit and then it would be a different story.

Nope, not at all. If I commit a clear cut violation, I am due what's coming to me. However, I've been doing this long enough, and am smart enough to check things out before my flights, so I dont put myself in that position. Some of us dont try and blame other people when we screw up.

AirBadger,

So you think anyone who violates restricted airspace should just get a slap on the wrist time and time again? If you had actually read and comprehended my post, you would have seen that I stated "if you bust restricted airspace to the point that you have to be escorted down by the military..." I'm not talking about a "maybe he did, maybe he didnt" situation like Boyer's. Yeah, the radar track proved he was wrongly accused, and that's good. I am refering to instances of a clear cut airspace violation, where there is no question whether it happened or not. The pilot in this case was obviously well insided restricted airspace. There's just no excuse for violating restricted airspace that's been in place for several years. All you have to do is look at a sectional, call FSS, hell, even my GPS database has established restricted airspace in it. There's just no excuse in my book for blatant airspace violations with the resources that are available to any pilot. It's the result of piss poor planning and complacent attitudes. I dont know, maybe I should have worded my post differently for those who have to be spoon fed every word of something. But like I said, it's my opinion. If it pissed in your bread basket, so be it. You'll get over it, just like I will. You've got your opinion, I've got mine.

AGpilot34, all kidding aside I agree with you. These bozos are making all of general aviation look bad. The government of course then will penalize all of us. The TFR around the capitol will not stop someone who really has evil intent, i.e. low level, no transponder, etc. etc., but we still can't violate it.

I hate to say it but all of this airport security, TFR's, ADIZ, etc., are window dressing with the intent to make Congress and the Executive Branch look like they "are doing something."

The absurdity of all of this; a terrorist can walk across our southern or northern border 24/7.

Regardless, the TFR and ADIZ busting has to stop.

Cynical me!

While I agree that people should call FSS before EVERY flight, that does not always cover you. Last month when the President came to New Orleans, I called and got a standard briefing as I do everyday. I was briefed thoroughly on the TFR dimensions. Only problem was that she was about 15 miles off. Fortunately I called FSS in flight prior to getting close to see if anything had changed. Turns out the original briefer read me a TFR from several months ago. If I had not called in flight, I would have busted the TFR. I agree that if you don't make yourself familiar with all available information as the FAR's say, you should be expecting to have the book thrown at you. But I also believe that each situation should be investigated instead of having a blanket punishment for all people who violate protected airspace.

P.S. How's the ol' pipeline treatin' ya?
