Hey Hog guys... I was a T-37 FAIP (38 trained) and for a lot of personal reasons I left active duty early and am now a herc driver in the reserves. I would love my shot at an A-10...do I stand a chance in h*ll of getting that opportunity since I never went through IFF? I am a mid level captain, so I have a lot of years left. Please tell me I have a chance, and where?

Eagle guy I know went to Fairbanks tanker back in late 90s. Supported Kosovo from a different perspective...

Attitude, attitude, attitude--if you want to be part of a team they'll see it. It sure would make being an weekend warrior easier if you were doing something similar at your airline job...

And it was quite humerous while over Bosnia on the boom to ask "Punky, is that you?"

Look at the 70th ARS and 79th ARS at Travis AFB. Both of these KC-10 units have numerous single-seat pilots from AD now in them.

70th just got a female A-10 pilot. She just started training.

I'd lean toward the 79th. They have a nicer bar and are less "spun-up"

Cush job, easy rig to fly......and you only go to the desert IF you volunteer.

I have seen several rated guys hired w/o prior KC or heavy experience over the last few years in my tanker unit. Some even were non-AF and/or rotor-heads. I don't think it is atypical of other ANG tanker units hiring practices, but I could be wrong. I'm very surprised that LNC says they do not hire for UPT positions. However, they may be very incestious and not offering them up outside of their own prior-service homies. As far as I know every ANG unit gets a UPT slot every year or two (larger units might get 2 per year). Funny, I've never seen LCN out on the road, I don't think they are very active in the real world. I'm surprised they dodged the BRAC bullets.

Check your PMs Hawg.
Yeah, but who wants to live in Jersey?
