Hi folks. Trying to get my head into the GA game after a long absence. Could anyone fill in the blanks for me on the acronyms AAVIATES (applies to required mx inspections) and MARVELOUS VFR (applies to required reports to ATC [IFR])? Many thanks!

A - Annual
V - VOR
I - 100 hr
A - Altimeter
T - Transponder
E - ELT

That's the one I know. There may be more to it.
Obviously some are only for IFR.

How about we learn what these acronyms mean and how to apply them rather than just rote learning?

Sorry, I just gave a particularly bad stage check to someone who memorized the acronyms and had nothing to back them up and I need to vent.

I asked a CFI of mine for an acronumy for VFR equipment, he said 91.205

S- safety of flight
V- vacating a altitude
F- final approach fix
R- radio or nav. failure
