ABX flying Amerijet routes

ABX crews are flying Amerijet routes now on a daily basis while Amerijet pilots are in contract negotiations under the Teamsters.

ABX pilots are also Teamsters.

What do you all think about this? In my opinion, it is hurting the Amerijet pilots' ability to negotiate their position for a contract.

It's not the brotherly union thing to do but I stopped believing in the Easter Bunny a long time ago.

Of course if it was the other way around everybody would be screaming bloody murder.

After I was laid off in January 2000 they had a meeting and told us if we voted for the union they would just farm out the flying. I doubt Dave Bassett's attitude has changed.

Are there any Amerijet crew members idled or furloughed at the moment? If they are short of crew members because some of them are attending negotiations, then there shouldn't be a problem with someone else helping them out, and if so, then I'd say a fellow IBT crew doing the helping is about as appropriate as it gets. Their freight still needs to move. Need more info! I would think 1224 would be all over this if it was a problem.

So if ATI had some folks on furlough and ATI mgt. decided to farm out some flying rather than bring back your fellow crewmen, you personally would think that was OK? With all due respect, that just ain't right no matter what union you belong to.

But regarding The_Russian's situation, I understand that while Amerijet is still talking and not striking, that whoever mgt. brings in has to fly what they are told to fly. But I'm sure that any self respecting Teamster flying another IBT's route is surely gonna do whatever is possible to make it known that it's not a good situation if that is indeed the case.

I hope The_Russian comes back and clarifies this situation with more details.

I'm pretty sure Airborne/ABX has been flying contract Amerijet routes for at least 5 yrs or more out of Miami. I think there is "no flying Struck goods" in the contract

I don't know how you could have possibly gleaned that sentiment from what I said. NO, I don't think that would be OK.
