FAJ, I think you missed what 707 was saying. If there aren't any pilots on furlough, than it's ok to contract.

I see your point T-way. That's what I get for posting at oh-1-30.

b707guy has always been reasonable in his past posts and I respect that. I hope he accepts my apology.

(a contrite :( ) FAJ

EDIT: Was typing this as you were posting b707guy. Sorry for the confusion on my part.

ABX crews are flying Amerijet routes now on a daily basis while Amerijet pilots are in contract negotiations under the Teamsters.

ABX pilots are also Teamsters.

What do you all think about this? In my opinion, it is hurting the Amerijet pilots' ability to negotiate their position for a contract.

Go.

ABX has been flying under contract to Amerijet on Amerijet "routes" for years. Amerijet's management has used ABX in lieu of buying the proper aircraft for the routes in question. I'm sure there are other carriers who also fly for Amerijet judging from their website.

Does this hurt the ability of Amerijet pilots in negotiating a contract? Maybe, but I tend to doubt it. I'm sure they use their own aircraft where they fit. We are not cheap. Would we wind up flying additional "routes" if the Amerijet crews were to strike. I doubt it. Two reasons: first, we can't supply the aircraft & crews our current customers are asking for, and second, we don't cross picket lines.

A rhetorical question: If brand x's pilots go on strike, and a passenger with a brand x ticket goes over to brand y, and brand y honors the ticket are brand y's pilots "scabs"?

Are you parking in brand x's parking spot? Does the pax for brand x have a big sticker on him identifying who he belongs to?:D

Gotta love the ACMI world.

We have flown for Amerijet in the past and just started back for them after a few year hiatus, apparently they have a problem paying thier bills....

But we have not been under contract to them for years.

Our long term contracts out of MIA are for:

Florida West---Lan Chile
BWIA
Air Jamaica

Contracts on an ADHOC basis that we basically do every week but could end anytime:

Laparkan
Air Haiti
Suriname Airways
Amerijet
A few others here and there....

Don't hold me to this exactly, I might be forgetting someone...

And yes, as far as scumbag carriers go, these guys rank near the top!
