My favorite are the few right seat captains who can't fly their way out of a paper bag, get stick shakers trying to land, and try to fly into terrain at night at an unfamiliar mountain airport while shooting a visual. If you fly with a "lot of arsehole captains"...you might be the problem.

Oh but not as much whining as you do when your precious ALPO is criticized by anyone. You whine more than any airplane in cruise ever could when anyone dares say anything bad about your almighty precious ALPO dog food errr I mean union

Why do you want to be everybody's boy?

Yeah I critque and challenge....but not becuase ALPA is criticized, it is because the typical ALPA pilot doesn't know how to use ALPA....

So, no it isn't about ALPA, it is about ignorant pilots who think ALPA is jacked up cause they are too lazy to understand how the organization functions...

What is the point of this? What are you trying to gain? In addition you specifically bring up a certain individual to stir things up....

Once again I am convinced your reading skills must be sub-par. Or are you unable to comprehend the idea of people telling stories. I'm sure you're a lot of fun to have a beer with..

How am I "stiring things up"? Did I say a name? I passed on a story.

You call it story telling, I call it whining and kicking a fellow pilot while he is down.....

And what pilot is it that I am kicking?

How do you know they didn't have a problem with you? Maybe they did and just tolerated you, because it wasn't a big deal or there are bigger things to worry about. Oh wait I got it. You are a dream to fly with and only others can be difficult....

You're right if someone has had a problem with me I don't know it. I would hope if someone did they would tell me. But like I said since you seem to be so sensitive about this subjet I can only assume you have had some first hand experience with this..

I know of 2 or 3 a-holes that like to be real smart when calling into ops...talking to some of us like we're 3 years old......these 2-3 are also the same ones who, when holding out for a gate, gripe about their connections and the fact that they might miss....as if we weren't looking at that....."ah yes sir, your first connections start in 50 mins so I believe they should be fine"

These 2-3 also say "well, we're a terminator, just give us a gate"....ok i'll put you(a 717) in a 737 gate and walk 200-300 people up and down the concourse so you don't have to wait 10-15 min to park...and THEN have a 737 hold out 30 min down the line...

CEO's behind the yoke....

I guess he prob. retired by now. But story was. This Captain was known to have major mood swings. Sometimes when the FO was the PF he would get mad at something the FO did and actually hit them and then take the plane away. But then once on the ground he would feel kinda bad for the way he acted and offerd to buy the FO an ice cream cone.

LMAO...thats classic

theres a guy we fly with, i only flew with him once along time ago, but he picks his nose and eats it all the time.

Man, I'm glad I never flew with that guy. Still, I don't think anyone can top the mofo in CHO (rhyme unintended) who thinks he's an alien...or at least used to. I would easily take John H. over him any day!

There is a capt at PDT that wears leather gloves in the cockpit. Also believes he was abducted by aliens. Just basically a looney tune and I'm sooo glad I didn't have the pleasure of flying with him.

Yeah, he's the one I was referring to. You don't even know what you missed. :)

J.H never gave me too much trouble, just a dweeb with 4 strypes. He got annoyed when you would ignore him so he would start harassing the F/A. Once you got to know the guy, he wasn't that bad. Th only guy I just couldn't get along with there was one of the "Puerto Rico" Spanglish mafioso...J.R. The (J) is pronounced (H)....and his Bag F/A that bumped my girlfriend off a flight so they could shack.

As far as the "ice-cream man", I flew with him a lot as an FO years ago. He had quite a reputation. I will admit that sometimes his interpersonal skills could have been improved on. But it seems that the weakest FO's were the ones that had trouble with him. He expects that based on the fact that you are sitting next to him you are a professional and will operate under SOP. When you didn't he'd call you on it. If it hurt your feelings, get over it, you probably wern't doing it as per SOP. Now the rest of the story. There is usualy a reason that people are the way they are. He is VERY by the book and very SOP. Let's flash back to before most of his FO's were born. While flying two tours in Hueys in Vietnam, he had a soldier violate the prohibited area around his AC. Guess what happened, you guessed it, his tail-rotor chopped this guy up into about a million pieces. After experiencing first-hand what mistakes can do, you tend to do your best to minimize deviations on your end. Now as a side-note, I think he does tend to get along a lot better now that he used to. He just doesn't like to work with people who might be a bit on the lazy/lax side. I'm not sure that he should.

Oh, I never had any real problems with JH; he just wasn't one of my favorites. But I never had problems with JR, either, and I flew with him quite a bit. (I flew my last trip with him, actually, by mere luck of the draw.) Just shows to go that some personalities can jive where others can't. Fact of life.

Some guy slapped your hand? Either be a man and stand up for yourself and your profession or be his biotch. But whinning about it isn't a comfortable middle ground. Why? cause nothing's changed, except we've had to endure whinning.

Maybe cause whinners don't have the skill set to communicate like an adult so they just whine about booger pickers and hand slappers... Either you know how to deal with these people or you don't..... There are those who know what battles to choose and when they choose one to fight they resolve thier own issues and get on with thier jobs and life and then there are those who just whine.

Babies....

You are a complete ******************************, I didn't whine about it. Did you read the whole post loser? I just did my job and no frickin' more when I couldn't take it anymore I got in his face and straightened his loser a$$ out. I din't go cryin' to pro-standards nor did I cry to the chief pilot. I dealt with it myself. Just sharing a story about some of the losers out there. hmmm...perhaps you are Captain Lightbulb, your initials aren't FH are they?

Hey ITW are you still slaving Lears for ASI or have you moved on to greener pastures? I've heard plenty of "arsehole captain" stories about that place, but they all involved the owers/management...

Oh yeah I'm Kiser Sosay!

I was an a-hole as an FO and as a Captain, now I'm a a-Hole FO again, Karma?
(discuss I'll be back in a jif)

Still slaving in the Lears but getting the PIC and not being the abusive captain, I'd like to think that I'm just the opposite. Management still sucks here but rather than whine about it, I've got the feelers out. Still working on a couple of corporate gigs and I've got 5 letters of rec from captains that I flew with in CVG for another 121 carrier(and it's not another regional).

On a similar note, I've had the opportunity to fly with Fred Fox (a retired AA captain). He's the guy you hear stories about being scared of aliens, dosent like flying high because of ailiens, thinks spaceships fly into thunderstorms to "recharge", and he's been known to wear tin foil around his ankles. I've heard people say he carries a notebook with him of real ailien pictures.

Overall nice guy, never had a problem with him and definately not an a-hole or abusive.

Have any Horizon Q400 fo's seen who is on the training plan? Be afraid....be very afraid. The last name starts with a D and he was fired 2 years ago, but managed to get his job back. I never had to fly with him before, but from what I hear, he was a major ******************************. It will be interesting to see if he passes training. My guess is that he will be under a major microscope.

Ummmm, hate to break the news to you, but Delta still has pilots on furlough and won't be hiring for years.
