Only 15 recalls anticipated in the latest bid that will close 10 days from now. E-190's going to PHL,10 Captains and 15 First Officers with one line of flying in Dec . Maybe there will be more recalls once the bid is run. On the last bid there were no recalls anticipated and they ended up recalling 50. But that 50 may have come from the addition of 3 757's and increased international flying announced later on?

Total head count was reduced approximatelt 60 down to about 2480. I saw 33 returning to the line and about 59 retirements with a few medicals(9). There was some reduction in BOS And LGA. These numbers are from my memory. I have a good memory but it tends to be short sometime.

Even better, Didn't the West side just have a bid with some Capt. slots open up??? Meanwhile, on the East side, even with 190 positions, there's a net head loss of 52 or so positions. So West gets Capt slots, East gets f/os?

yeah that's right, you gotta problem

With the 190 arbitration yet to be released, it appears the 25 190 positions will be staffed with only East pilots. Does the company already know??

Better question might be "Do they really care?" All they want is "meat in the seat". They don't give a rats a$$ what pilot group lands up flying the airplane.

PHXFLYR:cool:

The west side did just have a captain upgrade bid, as well as a displacement bid.

Their were a total of 8 or 9 vacancy on the west side. 4 in LAS and 4 or 5 in PHX. We were told that these slots would be filled by East side furloughees. All slots were for the Airbus. Don't know when they intend to fill them though. Probably before next summer. Best guess.

West did have some captain seats open up, but it darn sure isn't from growth. Airframes have left our fleet over and above what we were supposed to originally lose post merger. These "new" captain seats are simply from attrition, which has been rather high. The number of captain seats is nowhere near the number of pilots gone from attrition.

With your airframes that have gone above and beyond planned, etc etc. How many total positions has the West side lost since the merger was announced???? Even with the 190's being included in this bid. East is down another 50+ positions. Even with the recalls, retirements were 68 for 2 months.

Oh and the number of seats total, is nowhere near the number of pilots gone from simple age 60 and early outs, not including attrition....... 2804 postions June 2005. December 2006....2428

We're down 40 positions since July 05
7/05--1893
7/06--1853

And all of this is somehow a pilot's fault. Unbelievable.
Yep, I decided to return the 3 757's. Woke up this morning and sounded like a good idea. Instead of battling the company, we chose to fight amongst ourselves. Again management sits on the sidelines and laughs as we waste our manpower fighting ourselves. For a group of educated people we never learn a single thing from our past. SAD.
Good thing my fleet type is planned to stay separate.

Sorry Green can't help you there, I am furloughed. My guess would be, not much interest, since it doesn't pay much. The only good thing is, it would improve QOL for some folks.

It is starting to look fishy that Parker is failing to recall in significant numbers. Maybe he just wants the cash flow to look good for a few more quarters so he can cash out and retire to Scottsdale....

Scottsdale lol, thats the slums compared to P.V. (Dougs crib)

2428...remarkable. It has been 5 years since 9/11 when Gangwal said that force majeur' opened "certain doors that were unavailable to them prior to 09/11".

In Aug of 01 there were 6076 pilots. :(

Face it, guys, mergers suck. Even a merger of equals is not a good thing for QOL (especially for the junior guys).

From the outside, I hope you have a viable company that eventually gets the furloughees back and lets everyone keep their relative position. If one side or the other gets greedy, it'll end up like a helicopter with one blade missing.

Good luck to all.TC
