I can't belive it but AA is working on a unlimited jump seat reciprocal agreement to be anounced soon. Why would they do that I have no idea, maybe they are starting to see the light. This came from someone in managment. Can anyone confirm?

Personally, I don't believe this is true but you never know... I sincerely hope it is true and I will welcome AA pilots to a benefit that many other carriers have offered for years.

Just last week a AA gate agent told me the new codes are already in the computer for it. Just waiting for the word to start from management.

Why because they need something. AA is planning on changing the way they manage their hubs. Like no 737 in ORD and no MD80 in SFO. this cuts down on crew/aircraft changes, maint, parts, yada yada. Changes like this are going to leave a lot of pilots living at home commuting to a new base until they can get requalled on the new aircraft of their home base. Many folks are predicting sick calls to increase drasticly. Making it eaiser to commute makes sence for both sides.

I don't believe that this will benefit AA pilots trying to commute, as they have priority over OAL pilots already. The change is that OAL jumpseaters now will have access to any empty seats in the cabin over the number of installed jumpseats.

That is how some carriers are doing business now, and just makes good sense. After accomodating all revenue and company nonrev's, why not go ahead and seat any extra jumpseaters?

The only sticky point is that the loads are so high that on many flights this may be moot.

I think by promoting the trend AA mgt realizes the benefits will only help them in the long run.

This coming from the only Major Airline that does not give their own furloughed pilots unlimited travel privileges?

In fact, the majority of AA's furloughed pilots get ZERO travel privileges.

It is my understanding that UAL, USAIR, CAL, DAL, and NW all give their furloughed pilots travel rights until they are recalled.

I kind of doubt that. My experience with AA mgmnt is they are only concerned with their severence packages and bonuses. If unlimited JS does come through for the AA pilots then I would suspect the APA somehow figured out how to coerce mgmnt into doing this.

UAL ~ right now we have unlimted travel until 2006.

Any idea when AA will be up and running with new policy? Sure would be nice!!

Furloughfodder;

At NWA - furloughees only have pass privileges until December 31, 2005.

Our union had to negotiate this with management . The company initially only gave furloughees 30 days of pass privileges.

NWA - until December 31, 2005.

Thanks for the nfo nwanfo and pb4ufly. That clears it up a bit.

Me thinks you still got a better deal than at AA where the day you were furloughed you lost everything all at once...pay, travel, medical, dental, etc....

Thanks again for the info. It sounds like most all of you guys at NWA will be back on property before this expires.

Where does this crap come from? Furloughees get 18-24 months of s.a. travel for imm. family and parents. Also, 1 to 1 1/2 months of pay as severance, Cobra for 18 months for around $500 per month for family of 4 after the first 30 days away, and unlimited s.a. travel to guard or reserve duty.

That's bull. I didn't get a **CENSORED****CENSORED****CENSORED****CENSORED** thing. The way that craphouse union negotiates stuff, or should I say fails to, is simply amazing, . I didn't even get my furlough letter until after I was furloughed. Thanks for the 9 days notice AMR. It's a whole different ballgame for those who have been furloughed in the last year or so. Just ask one of the 386 or the early TWA guys how we were treated.

I have to go get the bitter taste out of my mouth now, excuse me.

You should do some research before spouting off!!!

I was originally hired by AA in 1989 (# 163990), worked for AA 6 years, AE 2 years, TWA 6 years and recieved no travel benefit after being furloughed on 11-1-2002.

Obviously "yaks" has no idea what he is talking about. It is amazing to me that some people don't have a clue about what is going on around them.

It reminds me of a time in late 2002 when I was jumpseating on AA. I had already been furloughed for about 6 months, and was working for a new company. When I told the AA crew that I was furloughed AA, the FO actually asked me if I have recall rights. That's how ignorant some people are when things don't appear to affect them. Needless to say, that particular FO has since been furloughed, and I'll bet she knows if she has recall rights.

Being furloughed from AA and gaining employment with a carrier that had no JS agreement with AA. I took it upon my self to negociate with the APA for a reciprical agreemnet with the blessing of the DO at Allegiant Air. The JS coordinator, Mr David Groves, was extremely helpful and pushed the agreement through the channels in just a few short months.

After I explained that about 7% to 10% of our pilot group was comprised of furloughed AA MD80 drivers, he sent me an email with all of his personal contact numbers and put my in contact with the AA-honcho at Centerport IV. So maybe there are some people out there trying to do the right thing without alterior motives......but then again, I've been wrong before!

In fact, I saw Mr. Groves was running for some office in the APA and had considered casting a vote for him, but then realized I am a furloughed POS and have no voice or voting rights! But enough about me, I think they are trying to make some changes for the better. AA has extracted a lot of concessions and it is only business to negociate "stuff" in return. Maybe a better JS policy is some of the "stuff".

Unlimited JS would be great for all us Air Willy guys doing the DEN-ORD commute. With typically 3 or more guys aiming for 1 or 2 JS on UAL those passes we have to write certainly add up!

From the AA pilots website:

Furlough Travel
Summary Fact Sheet
Furlough/Layoff Travel Privileges
Applicable Workgroups: All AA and Eagle employees
Furloughed or laid off employees affected by the current restructuring efforts will now receive 18
months of travel privileges after leaving American Airlines/American Eagle. This change is a
significant improvement to the 90 days of travel previously offered.

The additional 6 months came if you had no sick calls prior to your furlough. Please get your facts straight before you go flapping your yap. I can post the other info if you still refuse to open your eyes.
