Can any APA pilots help me out here?

Hag

Not sure what effectiveness they have regardless of thier position. What lobby presence do they have in DC? A different message from the ALPA and APA is only fodder...

Politically effective or membership compliant?

Take your pick. They are jumping on the freight train of age 65 rather than using their "political effectiveness" to try and derail it. ALPA is not a political juggernaut. Neither is APA, and neither would ALPA be if APA joined them. As pilots, we simply don't have political clout. The only time anyone listens to us is when sombody augers one in, and an "expert" opinion is needed on channel 5...

That may be true... is it acceptable?

If by membership compliant you mean: representing the will of the majority of their contstituents with honesty and integrity? Then the easy answer is No.

And what about being politically effective all while considering the current environement and reality of the situation?

We’re still solidly against raising the age to 65. I don’t expect APA to politically change their stand.

Now whether APA is politically successful now that ALPA has caved remain to be seen. We'll have to wait and see.

No one asked for your opinion on APA's 'political capital' in DC, Rez. When we see ALPA swinging their considerable political clout in DC, we'll listen. Until then...

On topic: what AA767 said. TC

Who cares about politically effective if it is against the wishes of those they are supposed to represent..Is it better to work hard to do the right thing or do the wrong thing because it is easier?.

I support the triumph of right over wrong.
if the leaders of alpa support legislation against the will of the majority of the pilots who are paying their salary then wrong has triumphed.

See, that's just it... if a pilot has a half a brain, even he/she supports changing the rule, that pilot should be gravely concerned with ALPA's actions.

So you're against it. Good man.

Well I'm against it too but you can be right and still come out empty handed so I'm for moving on the the next crisis.
