Looks like an arbitrator will decide the bonus situation as agreed to by the pilots. Bonus' anywhere from two grand to $1.9M (who got that, Arpey?). So all the huff and puff about breaking off talks is nothing more than grandstanding, and an excuse to prolong the scope talks. My guess is the union will still balk at talks if an arbitrator reduces the bonus' by 25% or more.

OLD NEWS, it has been going to arbitration for the past 2 weeks. Common Lowecur TRY to keep up.

AA

Less pay, more productivity and a 401k are going to be the new reality for all airlines, not just AA. APA is going to have to give in and eliminate the A and B fund. Next, everyone is going to have to take more pay cuts and be more productive. Otherwise, AA will not be competitive. Personally, I think APA fighting management on these issues is pointless and costly. Maybe I have a different perspective after 4+ years of furlough.

As far as recalls, United started at a ratio of 2 to 1 and eventually got to 8 to 1. At AA, the ratio could be as high as 10-15 to 1 as we get closer to the bottom of the list.

Why?

Most military dudes are going to take a MLOA to finish out their 20 years. The vast majority of the military dudes are AF. Everyone had at least 9 years in the AF. Most of them returned to active duty or are working full time in the reserve or air guard. 9 + 4.5 = 13.5 years of service.

If they can get to 15 years total, they can take a 5 year MLOA and get a military retirement and accrue seniority to boot. The math does not support going back. There are many ex-military guys who don’t want the recalls to start for about another 1.5 years.

As for the civilians, the vast majority of them have found new jobs. Now that they have 4+ years seniority at another airline, will they come back? Hard to say. As for the ex-TWA folks, I think they are happier somewhere else. Seems like a lot of them have bad blood with AA.

So, the recalls might be done faster than everyone thinks. Especially if the recalls don’t happen for another 1.5 years and all of the military guys get within 5 years of retirement.

I guess the same thing that happened when your crystal ball predicted US Airways would be out of business.;)

:pimp:

Once again, can you please tell us who the CEO of USAir is?
Doug Parker
Where is the USAir corporate headquaters?
111 West Rio Salado Parkway
Tempe, AZ 85281

Can anyone help Lowcur out and tell him what other US airline has the exact same mgt team and corporate headquaters?

Let me guess you still think that ATT is in business. When you make statements like USAir is still in business people within the industry people laugh at you.
