USAPA is using this accident to legitimize themselves. I think it's actually in pretty bad taste. They've been trying to ride Sulley's coat tails since that plane hit the water. If that would have been a West crew, they would have been trying spin it differently...about the lack of experience, how a "true" USAIR pilot would have made it back to LGA....pretty much anything that would help the company get the pilots fired. All things being equal, any orgainization skill they showed came from years of training with ALPA...(and I'm not a real fan of ALPA).

Uh... yeah. The paranoids are after you.

You say that USAPA sucks and has bad motives, and that any skill USAPA does have is a result of ALPA. What does that say about ALPA... ALPA sucks and has bad motives, and do it well!

You are a GENIUS!! But USAPA has one thing that ALPA never dreamed of... membership votes.:D

I am going to say it. I wonder if APA would have done the same thing for a USAPA/ALPA jumpseater if the roles were reversed.

From all that I have read I am impressed with USAPA's handling of the immediate aftermath of the crash.

I think trying to capitalize on this for bargaining purposes is dangerous and stupid.

Agreed. Also, in true Eastie mentality, USAPAs ability to capitalize on years of ALPA training and their speedy appearance on the banks of the Hudson, have exactly zero relevance to their illegal actions in attempting to evade the Nic. and disenfranchise 40% of their pilot group.

That will all be over in court in fairly short order. When, IMO, Judge Wake tells the East once and for all that in fact, binding means binding, and ALL us air pilots are in their proper FAIR place, then maybe USAPA might find some traction and start actually becoming an actual "union".

So I can get paid $20 to jump seat on US Air?

Sweeeeet!

Very impressed with what USAPA has created in such a short time: A real, effective organization that protects its members. This story proves it.

The silence from the usual FI.com detractors is deafening :)

No beef with how they've handled this incident, and I'm more than a little surprised it wasn't more of a bumblefest (based on how everything else has gone). That said, it serves them well to put their best effort into this. I don't think it comes as a shock to anyone that east representation would go to great lengths to protect an east crew, especially with the world watching.

I think the key to success here was that they jumped into action without consulting Lee Seham first. ;)
