The gal with crabs brings with her a fully funded A-plan, an 11% B-plan, and hourly rates that are right up there. What's the gal with the pitcher of kool-aid bring to the party?

Yeah, but the girl with the crabs has all her credit cards maxed out and is mortgaged to the hilt all while working at Wal-Mart for minimum wage. How much longer will she be able to keep her 'acccessories'?

Maybe she's coming to the party to find a sugar-daddy to help pay off her debt and support her...TC

Yeah, they'll have to start hiring because when they recall, no one will accept. What did I read here, 'working for american is like being with a beautiful woman then you find out she has crabs!'

i thought all the chicks shaved these days!

I'll bet that if I ran out of the house right now and floored my car, if I hit a pedestrian they would be ex Comair or Eagle from the last decade.

Anything is a given.

We just got an American Eagle age 60 retired EMB captain as a new hire flying Carvans in 135...I hope I don't have to run him down in the parking lot to prove my point. However, we have a lot of Simmons and Eagle guys that have flown for us. Life is like a box of chocolates...you never know which one you're going to get.
If I had it all to do over again, I probably wouldn't be a pilot...unless I was one of the lucky one's to be a Captain for the majors in the 90's when things were going strong and senior DL captains were making at or around 300/yr.

I was telling the wife last night I should've been a schoolteacher. Off every day by 3:30, weekends off, summers off... Or a firefighter. Easy work (given, if you don't get a call every hour.)
My neighbor who flies for eagle is thinking about just getting out..screw it!! He has a side business in woodworking, makes more there than he does at eagle.

It's those pesky A$$ hairs that they cling on to.

Aaaaand this thread goes off the road and through the guardrail...

Eagle is indeed hiring (or at least trying to). Attrition is rumored to be 35-40 a month- mostly FOs who have been awaiting an upgrade for six or seven years now due to this abortion of an agreement on flowthrough/flowback. There hasn't been much interest from recruits from what I hear. I guess no one wants to be hired semi-permanently into the right seat so they can babysit some low-time former zoomie or listen to some TWA pilot complain about how much better things were at TWA.
Pilots who do come to Eagle usually do so because of a particular crew base they want to be based at. If you want actual career progression, there are better places to go.

I can't provide more detail, but I flew a trip with an AA management type escaping his desk for a turn, and we discussed the furloughs. He stated that an informal poll of the furloughees revealed over half, approaching 2/3'ds, would NOT come back. Take that tidbit for what it's worth... it's a rumour, but the source was highly placed.

I'm not doubting the veracity of your story, but how would this management type know that? There hasn't been any polling of furloughed pilots that I know of. So, is it just a hunch on his part?

Regarding comments from mgmt pilots, I recall flying a turn out of DFW with the AA chief pilot just before we started to furlough. He told me that the flowback provisions would never actually be used, so I shouldn't be concerned with how screwed up the contractual language was. We know how that turned out.

This story must be more than it seems....

Who would tell AA management that they were likely not coming back?? Who would choose to upset the boss when they may come back and have to deal with possible resentment??

If this is a valid "poll" I think it is only a snapshot in time. If things improve at AA or decline at their new job the numbers will change.

More likely those polled said they would bypass initial call back.

Just think, ten seconds of research would have kept a zoomie from turning into a retard.
Scrapdog,
If one of your squadron bros flipped you sh** like that, would you give 'em the "aw shucks" routine or would you bow up and give it right back to him? Don't take that crap from CHIEEEFS...........

Getting angry on an anonymous forum is of not use. Those that try to make you angry just get a thrill out of the waste of energy on them.

Anger has nothing to do with it.

Malter - no worries brother! Please, do you think I gave that guy more than 2 seconds of thought? I'm extremely happy with where I came from, where I went to school, and the awesome flying and bro's I'm around flying Vipers in the G-word.

On another note though, I'm not going to get into a pissing contest with the dude, be disgruntled or whatever he is. I'm not into putting him down personally as he did me. I'm here to learn, use the "good" advice some folks actually post on here, and hopefully get on with a solid carrier such as FDX or CAL in the near future. Burning bridges with him won't help my cause, therefore I just took the friendly route, if you will...

FWIW, I did not accept the flushback. QOL was better at TWA, job security of course was always a concern. As for the rest, it was just different.

Screw those whiners, it wasn't your fault.
