But, I like the B717! Really!
I agree! I think the B717 is a great airplane! I love the flight deck and it is very quiet. When I used to commute between St. Louis and Dayton, it was the plane I got to ride on and I loved it. The F-100 with it's langing gear issues needed to go, But. the B717 would fit perfectly into the fleet at AA.
The only thing wrong with the B717 was Boeing didn't promote it as well as they could have. Too busy trying to push the B737-700, -800, and -900s. That left the opening for Canadair and Embraer to maufacture 90 seat jets. And with the Brazillian government supporting the financing of the EMB jets...
It is sad to fly over LGB and see the DC-10/MD-11 buildings gone and the DC-9/B717 buildings empty.
TWA Dude said:Now whydya have to go and hurt my feelings? The only "unfortunate" thing about the 717 was that AA didn't follow through on their original plan to order 100 more! Dumping the F100 was necessary but keeping the 717 would've given AA the 100-seater that's the talk of the town these days. Harumph!
