Just another airplane. Im not a basher but im deffinitly not a fan. I like a few things about Airbus.......but they sure arent Boeings. The 380 will never be able to match the quality and legacy of the 747.

It has 4 sets of mains, two 2 bogey and two 3 bogey, 744 just has 4 2 bogey. I just want to sit at the bar and gamble in the casino, then I will be impressed.

Don't let him fool you.. as we speak Hugh is figuring out how many FA's he could bag on an overnight flying one of these things.
There's no foolin' anyone around here, is there?

Toss me the keys. I'll fly it.

I didnt think that there were keys used to start it. I guess the French designed it that way so that they can make a quick retreat incase of controversy.

airbus orders/delivers still top boeing, in case you forgot. don't see that changing anytime soon.

PERCENTAGE OF DELIVERIED/STILL OPERATING AIRBUS PLANES AIN'T BAD FOR A DISPOSABLE (10 YEAR) AIRPLANE.

PECENTAGE 99.4% 82.2% 99.2%

Hey Kevdog,
I'd be curious to know similar percentage stats for Boeing. Linky?

huge,

i was also going to put boeing stats on that reply, until i noticed boeing doesn't add that info to their website. but here are the stats available.

Aircraft 717 727 737 747 757 767 777 787

Orders 155 1831 5579 1384 1049 946 681 64

Deliveries 140 1831 4808 1356 1048 926 507 0

Age 7 40 37 35 25 23 10

just my own thoughts, but airbus seems to be at least a 20 year disposable aircraft. now how many 727, 737, 747 build in the early 80's are still flying. probably less than 80%. i believe delta had the first (or close to it) 757 and 767 aircraft and to my knowledge, they are still in service.

btw, both boeing and airbus stats as of mar 05

I'd bet on more than 80%. Heck, look at the all the 727-200's that are still in service. There are still a lot of 737-200's in service as well.

The most telling number right now is the order numbers of 787 vs A380.

Still the two best products out there. Give me any model of either of them anytime.

Who still has 737-200's in service? I was under the impression that everyone retired them.

Aloha still has them. I saw some recently at America West. There are a bunch down in South America. The only ones I know of that have been retired lately are the legacy carriers. Somebody probably has a link to all the active ones, I'm just a little lazy to find them now. Anyone?

I rode on a Delta -200 last week, plus Alaska is still flying theirs. I am sure there are more.
