Not quite TP, the average salary for an A320 skipper in south American airlines is $6,000/month and above, in the LAN family of companies, it is about $8,000, and this is base salary without any of the allowances. After the downturn of 91, I went back to Latin America in search of jobs since it was pretty bad here in the US, I got a job flying a LET-410 for a charter airline down there and that was my salary back then, 5K per month (and no, it wasn't the salary of an import, it was the local market going salary for that A/C) So 5K for an a320 skipper is very low even in the SA market. But I do agree with a previous poster that some might go for it just to use it as a stepping stone, sad really.That would be a pay raise for a lot of South American pilots.
