I’m all for letting those who would like to fly past 60 to keep doing so. I just don’t think it’s reasonable that it is done at the expense of those who are planning an age 60 retirement.

Why not allow those over 60 to continue flying at the bottom of the seniority list. This will protect all of those who decide to retire at 60 from stagnated advancement due to those not retiring at 60. Of course, full longevity pay should apply.

Thoughts?

Better ideas?

How about stricter medical standards that are actually enforced? I know alot of guys flying on rubber-stamp medicals. Hell, there are people that fly from out of state to visit one particular doc in TN. Wonder why that is?

you don't get it? it's all about them-that won't work. hopefully, we will protect ourselves in the new round of contract negotiations. i'm willing to quit funding the A fund.

Is that wehat your contract says now?
Is that what you can negotiate in your next contract?

As it stands now, those over 60 will continue to fly (if the choose to do so) in accordance with the current seniority system as it is.

If you're talking about stricted medical standards for the over 60 crowd, that is against the provision of the new law. If you're talking about stricter standards for all (including you) then you may be on to something.

If the majority truly believes that retirement should be at 60, this should be something that is negotiable at minor expense.

How about a new seniorty list.

Those over 60 get a new number and can keep their current spot, BUT, if an airline ever needs to furlough they start with those OVER 60!!!!!

Over 60 guys get their windfall today, and junior guys get a little bit of job protection for the future.

The hell it's not... If you are in your early 30s and have your CA upgrade pushed back 5 years, you will have to work, roughly, an extra 2 years to get the same amount of total pay over your career.

So, 2 more years for the same pay. That's two years of working for free.

And to the thread starter... EVERY operation will be affected by this decision. Some will feel it now, some will feel it 10 years from now when their list stagnates

This guy gets it.

Since the majority of us still want an age 60 retirement, can't we still negotiate contracts that move over age 60 guy guys backwards in seniority or towards the bottom so it's fair for the majority? I think it's great that guys can work past 60 if they chose to, just not at the expense of others.

Excellent idea. If we're really concerned about safety, lets increase the medical standards for ALL pilots. Lets be honest folks. The current FAA physicals are a joke. Sure there are some good AME's out there, but most of the time, if you can walk through the door without assistance and are breathing, you pass!!

that idea still hurts those at the regionals trying to get in or those trying to switch majors.

this isn't win win...it's win-lose no matter how we slice it.

Slow thinker.

BITE ME AGE 60 guys. you knew what the rules were when you signed on. go on with your life

I like progressive thinking!

Innovative, refreshing, so much to add to a discussion.

Yah just don't get it do you?

Maybe the wisdom of age will teach you. Maybe when you're 59 you'll "get it"?
