A SWA friend told me that he heard there was some company news to the pilots that SWA was considering buying ATA.

This is probably miss-interpreted but I have to ask.

Thanks in advance!

I hadn't heard anything... not even a rumor. I just checked our company website, email, and another webboard and couldn't find anything.

To say SWA is "considering" it doesn't really say anything. You could probably say we "considered" buying United or USAir (for example) for a few seconds, although I'd be surprised if SWA isn't constantly considering buying ATA.

It sounds to me like it's just another hysterical rumor that went out of control.

I think if the Company doesn't get a good "codeshare" Agreement that "buying" ATA would fix any problems (create new ones) associated with the codeshare. I'd say its on the table.

You know how the rumor mill works.......

Thank you everyone!

Here goes another rumor:

Some of your check airmen have been asked if they would be interested in working on the B787 if SWA were to get them.

Again, just listening to a SWA pilot buddy and curious if there is any weight to this rumor.

This is the place for rumors.
:erm:

They will never figure out the AT and VNAV. Way to complex to "just fly it like a -200"
