Ah.

27k on the low end for a jet PIC job. With experience, no less.

Sounds like they view pilots with the same value as an adjunct instructor. When I did that I had no benefits, not even the ability to take classes at no charge. Only about 25 percent of the instructors at the college where I taught had any kind of status, tenure, or benefit.

If someone left to create this opening, I think I can see why.

May be a good opportunity for someone who is young, has support of parents, and doesn't intend to stay.

you'd think that they'd breed qualified applicants through the aviation dpt/ flight school. how hard would it be to sic qualify some students while they're in the program, let them build some experience, and then, as needed, offer positions like this up to graduates. the minimums published are kinda low (matching the pay). hell, they could even make you go to flight saftey on your own dime, and give you college credit for completing the type course.

i think this seat has been open several times over the last ~five years.

How many years do you think a student is going to sit SIC until he or she has the requisite experience to qualify for the opening? How much do you think that airplane flies annually? Probably not much. A couple hundred hours, perhaps? A student that gets out of the program with a couple hundred hours might spend the next eight years trying to get enough experience to move over...not many folks willing to do that.

Just another case of the cheap hiring the cheap. Just another case of attempting to lower the bar (again). Nothing new under the sun.

it has been a while, but i think the airplane flies a good bit. you are right though avbug, that it would take a while for students to meet the somewhat low minimums, and then, if they make it part of the curriculum, i guess it would have to offered as some type of class. i doubt that the plane flies enough for more than one person to log several hundred hours over a four year time.

anybody who is a tiger and or plainsman aviator know if aviation program graduates get any, even limited, experience in the ATD's aircraft?
