Sorry, there is absolutely no sane rationalization for going up to someone and telling them who they can loan thier car to. The idea that somhow a car belonging to someone else should be reserved strictly for the use of ....XXXX (jet pilots, corporate pilots, pilots of planes that go over 200 mph, pilots who get paid....whatever. It all boils down to telling someone else "that's *my* car, it's only for *my* use and those who I say". Which is arrogant in the extreme when that someone is the person who owns the car, and you don't.

First comed, first served. This thread is almost as dumb as corporate pilots who want me to cancel in the air, because for some reason a single engine turbo-prop aint got no right to an IFR clearance all the way to the surface of a non-towered field.

What is arrogant is someone who parks an airplane, pays for no sevices, buys no fuel and expects to put on the front line while getting the courtesy car.

Notice how I suggested time limits, encourage sharing ect.

I am not going to demand anything from an FBO owner/manager. I am mearly going to make suggestions and take my dollars to those places of business that provide the best customer service.

I also think that this thread started with guys taking the courtesy car for the entire day. Not exactly courteous, now is it?

Uhhh, now you're just making $hit up. Unless you were there, and I see no indication that you were, you don't know what the guy did or did not buy there. And unless I missed a post, you completely pulled the crap about being "put on the front line" out of your a$$ (when you think about it, where esle would you pull crap from?) 1) The car belongs to the FBO

2) The FBO loaned that car to one of it's customers on terms that were obviously acceptable to the FBO.

3) That transaction did not involve you, and it's none of your business.

It is that simple. You don't own the car. The FBO does. The FBO can use it how they see fit.

I grasp it all, sweetpea.

I am just making the point that if FBO's want to cater to Cirus' (and that is their right) then I can take my ramp fees and fuel purchases elsewhere. That is the point that I am making. It is all about choices.

As for the front line stuff, it was not in this case but we have all seen the type. I worked line service for several years and saw the worst offenders were often the guys who purchased nothing and expected everything.

Did I hit too close to home for you or something? Shees. I think that the long hours of daylight are getting to you. Relax my friend.

All that I am asking is that when someone uses the COURTESY CAR that they are courteous. Taking a crew car for hours hardly fits the bill.

I get the crew car all the time when I fly in places... "Do you have a car I can borrow for a few hours?" is usually how it goes.. I take the keys and take me and whoever came with me out the door and down the road...

I always pay get fuel at the FBO, I always put gas in the crew car, I always make sure I am back within the alotted amount of time.. If they give me 5 hours, you can bet your bottom dollar I'll be gone for 4.5..

If your throwing a fit because someone got the crew car that wasn't a "crew" your a tool...

When I fly my Duchess, I'm crew. A post in another topic suggested that the mark-up on Jet A required purchase of 8 gallons to equal the mark-up on a gallon of 100LL. If I put in 50-80 gallons (a typical situation for me), then I'm equal in profit to the FBO as someone taking on 400-640 gallons of Jet A. Perhaps not as much as a jet, but certainly competitive with most turbo-props. I also paid $75 at San Jose jet center a few months ago just to drop off a friend and use the restroom. I was not even there for 10 minutes.

Next time go to Reid Hillview. Fuel is 2$ a gallon cheaper, there aren't any ramp fees unless you tie down overnight and even then it's only 6$, and there's a rental car company on the field.

The jet center and SJC in general do all they can to discourage GA.
