I just had the best airport sandwich ever the other day at Dulles. A place called the Gas Light Baking Co. in B terminal. They have a sandwich of smoked salmon, capers, red onions, and cream cheese on a nice croissant. Its excellent. Best of all, its only $6.50 Just wanted to spread the news!

Potbelly sandwich in B term is also good! only $3.99

Yes, I concur wholeheartedly. However, the Gas Light place is, in my opinion better albeit slightly more expensive. ORD f terminal also has that good Gyro place if you're in the mood for grease.

I'm picturing a pilot with spiky frosted hair, doc martens, a backpack, and an i-pod, eating a sandwich like that.

Next time you're at ORD go to the Berghoff and get you a real man's sandwich. A mountain of corned beef on rye for $6.99.

Agreed. That place has great food. That particular sandwich is JAPA approved as well!

What's wrong having spiky hair while eating a gyro in a terminal??

Wow. Then you would love the roasted veggie sandwich I had today with grilled eggplant, roasted red peppers, red onions, havarti cheese, and hummus, all in a warm pita bread. Oh, and the worst part, I actually made it myself.

For the record, I have never frosted anything on my body, don't own a pair of Doc Martens, and almost never take my iPod with me on trips.

I agree with you more often than not, JP, but I think it's a bit of a stretch to equate someone's eating habits to their ability to be a profesional. Perhaps you should try the sandwich the guy is talking about. You might actually like it. Sounded pretty good to me.

Thanks for the rebuttal fgreightdog! For the record, I don't frost or spike my hair, don't own docs, don't carry my ipod with me, and I press my uniform wear my hat and polish my shoes. I'm just a pilot who likes and appreciates good food. But before this thread turns into a childish bickering match like so many others... This is a discussion of sandwiches. Not hairstyles, footwear, politics or other unrelated (and most tiresome) tirades about completely different topics. Lets get back to the food. I'm glad to hear that there are a few other gourmets out there.

If preferring a good sandwich like that over the pressed horsemeat that passes for food at "Burger" King means I'm not a "real man," then so be it. If I'm going to keel over from a heart attack, it damn well better be from something better than a Whopper with cheese!

I want to eat Barbaro.

I forgot, Flightinfo is the pinnacle of morality on the interweb....

No, I just thought it was in exceptionally poor taste. I wasn't speaking for "the board", I was just speaking for myself. I don't particularly find any joke about the misfortune of an animal funny.

I also thought your post was small-minded, but that's just my opinion.

What in the heck are capers, anyway? I know I could google it, but it's always so entertaining getting something answered on this board.

Hell I was curious too, here ya go:

[FONT=verdana, geneva, helvetica] Capers are the unripened flower buds of Capparis spinosa, a prickly, perennial plant which is native to the Mediterranean and some parts of Asia. Their use dates back to more than 3000 B.C. where they are mentioned as a food in the Sumerian cuneiform Gilgamesh, an ancient retelling of a great flood and ark legend. After the buds are harvested, they are dried in the sun and then pickled in vinegar, brine, wine or salt. The curing brings out their tangy lemony flavor, much the same as green olives.

Yeah, I'm bored.

That was probably the best answer to ANY question EVER posted on flightinfo.com. Well done!

Beef on Weck at BUF. Awsome

No way in BDL they have this hot dog looking sausage thing wrapped in a pizza slice. 5 by 5 ate two of them.

Sounds S-S-S-Super!!!

All kidding aside, I never equated it to professionalism. I equated it to being a Metrosexual Generation Y-er. As a joke.

Chill andy. Eat what you want. I'm only pokin a little fun at you while pointing out the irony of Flightinfo at the same time.

Exceptionally poor. Also immature and just plain gross.

I agree that it was in poor taste (no pun intended) to make the barbaro comment but as for the taste, that would be up to the person. In France, horse meat is a delicacy and many eat it. If he wants to eat horse meat...well then let him eat horse meat. I had it once it was actually very good.
