I'm trying to go SFO-HKG in a week or so on United. Loads look good so far.(about 80) open seats in back. Does anyone know if the -400's get weight restricted for nonrevs going that distance? I have to imagine they go out with close to Full Fuel to make the distance with reserves. Cant imagine there's too much cargo going TO Asia. If I knew the BOW weights I could figure it out but since I don't, I have to ask.
thanks.

747-400, holds F(12), J(52), and Y(310). Looking at every day on the 3rd-7th, there are no held seats. Friday looks to have the highest load factor so far but none of the days are completely full.

I got stuck in HKG a few years ago trying to jumpseat on UAL back to the states. There were open seats, but weight restrictions, so I could not get on. Ended up taking Atlas through ANC.

Does UAL employ "load optimization?" I.E. limit seat sales to haul additional cargo?
