K&S
K&S was nothing short of excellent instruction in KPHX. Most are Southwest pilots. I believe they are doing classes now in not only KPHX but also KSLC and KDFW.

I just did my 737 type at Higher Power, can't say enough good things about HPA, a great school and a great bunch of people down there. I HIGHLY recommend Higher Power Aviation.

I went to K&S in PHX. I thought the program was great. I stayed in PHX and did the -200 program with -300 differences. Two guys went to SLC for -300 sim. Our instructors were either current or retired AWA and SWA folks with the exception of Mike Sturgis. Mike was formerly at Sabena before their demise. I would recommend that if you use K&S you stay in PHX for the -200 and request Mike for the sim. He was a fantastic instructor and I could not possibly say enough good things about him. The -200 course was also $500 cheaper than the -300. Hotel is included in the cost and it wasn't a bad place, just a little off the beaten path. Chic Lang from the SWA PHX base came and talked to us on the second day and that was good for squashing some rumors and answering questions we had. PM me if I can answer any other questions.

I went to Higher Power in October of this year and can't say enough good things about them. Stay at the Amerisuites and take your car with you. It will be worth the drive. Amerisuites is right across the fence (literally) but having some wheels there will be a great plus. Have a good time with the training, it's a lot of fun and Mark and Joe run a great show. Also, ask if you can do the -300 differences. My sim partner and I did our sim in the 300 and it was great. Ask for Rod Lewis if you get a choice. Very laid back guy and a good instructor. Lynn Taubaneck (ground instructor) may have the funniest dry sense of humor I have ever been around and that made the systems portion that much better. Enjoy!!!

I really don't know you but if you were my friend or my brother I would MAKE you go to HPA. Think about it, what school would care enough about you to send you a birthday card and correspond with you way after you left? HPA has. If they take that kind of care after you are gone you can imagine what happens while you are there. I am not sure what the other school prices are but don't jump over a 100 dollar bill to pick up a penny. Also, do not get discouraged for having bigger size classes, it just means that more people realize it is the place to be. HPA is no cookie cutter or anything like that. You go there and if you don't like it I'll give you my address and you can personally come to my house and kick my *&@^*&@^*.

I've posted my views on type schools in the past. K&S is highly reputable, you'll find no critics of them on here. HPA is also highly rated as you have seen. I will say upfront I work there parttime but didn't get my type there so I can honestly do a comparison between what 2 very different type schools look like.
As mentioned Mark Sterns & Joe Poore do a great job & have a great staff but it doesn't stop there. If you merely want a type, there are many places (even though fewer now than in the past but the quality numbers have remained about the same) but I believe for what you are paying, one gets far more than just a type at HPA.
You will "link" into the HPA network of grads, employers, and other aviation sources that use HPA services. HPA provides training for military (C-40 (-700 training), gov agencies & many corporate clients that demonstrate they have proven to a broad range of customers the quality of service they provide when it comes to flight training. What does that matter to you or anyone who merely wants to get a type? It matters in my opinion because it demonstrates their committment to improving their product.
In the last year they have added a Cockpit Systems Simulator that has greatly added to the quality of training for the clients. They put out a bi-monthly newsletter of useful information on hiring trends in the 121/135 world of aviation. There are many other aspects of their company that make them standout among their peers but only you can make the decision.
