On the overhead panel why are the fuel control panel-lower, ac electrical power panel, hydraulic control panel, and air conditioning/pneumatics control panel painted a different color? Light grey over a grey?

Thanks for your help...I can't seem to find the answer on my own
 
Maybe less specific: "panels you'll deal with in SE ops."
 
Another answer I have heard is that these were the panels the FE was responsible for back when a FE was a required crew member.
 
I always heard that it was a system that could be split or joined together.
 
OK, good answer, but do you know how many pieces of wood were used in the 727 when it was built?
 
The variety of answers goes to show how questions like this serve no purpose, except to make the person asking them feel intelligent.
