There must be a reason why they're always hiring...

The word from someone who worked there (and quit) is that the gravy train from Uncle Sam is coming to an end, and the company is thus tightening down it's operation. Pay has been decreasing and hours have been increasing.

The company's contract is also up for bid soon, and there is a competitor trying to undercut, so URS is trying to reduce their costs to keep the contract.

Also, the way I've heard it described (again, no personal experience there) the lack of a union and having the supervisory levels staffed by retired O-6s and above who don't remember that they are retired, makes a tough work environment.

My guess: pilots can't look out the window while they're landing (i.e., classified projects). Every landing in Area 51 is therefore an autoland and that gets boring... :laugh::crying:
