737-200's in LAS?

Does anybody know who flies the 737 200's on the West side of the field. The planes are white and red with no other markings. Rumor is that they fly to Area 51.

Are they flown by acitive duty military or is it a company that contracts to the military and hires civilian pilots????

That is what they are for, not sure who crews them, I would guess active duty military....

What you saw does not exist. Those planes/ramp and parking area were just a dream you had. In my dream it was a company Called E G and G. It was a government contract where the pilots work mon through fri shuttling workers to all the test sites, that dont exist. Also in my dream their call sign was "Janet" and when they get north of LAS they get a freq change. Then they disappear. Now go back to sleep.

I saw a show on the Discovery Channel one night about that operation. Very limited info of course. But they also said that for those employees who are fearful flyers, they travel by bus into and out of the site (with darkened windows of course).

That operation has been run by a D.O.E contractor known as EG&G Dynatrend. It's a basic Monday thru Friday 0700-1700 operation, with surely no overnights in"dreamland". Any chance the "Janet" callsign stands for "Just ANother Extra Terrestrial"?

Actually Joshua Control is the ATC agency which "owns" R-2508 in California. They are part of the Edwards/China Lake test complex. The Nellis ranges have a variety of controlling agencies, my favorite being "Dreamland."

I have flown with an Ex EG&G at SWA. Not real talkative about the past life with the exception of, "I worked there."

Makes me wonder what they talk about at the interview.

I have a few friends flying for that operation. Nice to see that theie ex-employees still take their security clearance seriously.

Operation is all ex-military (mostly retired Lt Cols and Colonels), as far as I know. Easier to update an existing security clearance than starting from square one. From what I understand, if you don't know someone already there, your chances are slim. Contract falls under "Range Maintenance" for the Nellis AFB ranges. Main contractor is EEG, but flying operation is under a different name. When I applied, I called EEG's office in LAS and (after a very strange and circular conversation, where I finally proved to them I knew what I was talking about) they directed me to a company web site. On-line app. I was never called, despite knowing head of the operation and 3 other pilots. Turnover is very slow and not all that many pilots to begin with.

If hired, the company will send you to get the 737 type rating. I don't know the pay rates.

I have taxied past this operation and found out this limited information before and find it quite facinating. I had a room at the MGM one night and saw one taking off to the south. They went south. . . continued south. . . and then all of a sudden. . . continued south. These guys are pretty serious about people looking where they are going. I was just waiting for them to turn back toward this non-existant "area 51" and never saw them make the turn. I have heard they shuttle civillian contractors/military personall to government sites in remote desert operations all over the place. I guess for the real low-down, your best bet would be to call Art Bell. Good luck and in the extremely off chance you find some more information that is not shared on the late night talk shows, please let me know. I have so many Vegas ovrnights filled with low-paid pilot wages too cheap to gamble that I would like something to do. . . like see where these planes are going!

Let me see, job flying 737, weekdays, home nights, no weekends, most likley good pay benies - can't imagine why the job is kept secret. Where do you apply? Anyone do an internet search and find anything?
