Jim said:Probably closer to 33 than 43. We have 10 retires and over 60 FEs that will go with the DC-10s in Feb.
The bid is also being grieved. We have scope clause and other contractual issues that have to play out. Plus the day after the bid came out, there was new flying announced (not much, but some) that was not included in the manning calculations. The company is also in negotiations for more destinations, some that could be quite crew intensive as they would require long layovers. The union is also getting ready to talk with management about some early-retirement options that would save money and lessen furloughs if accepted.
Furloughs have not yet been officially announced by management. The last number talked about was 31 on Jan 15th. The numbers change daily because of the above. While I think I will most likely be on the street again come Jan, I also think there is a fair chance the furloughs will either be delayed, go away or be short-lived.
Another thread talked about Aloha making a profit 3rd quarter. HAL made one too, about $6.4 million. We are in fiscally better shape than Aloha, but Aloha seems to be executing their buisness plan better. We're kind of floundering while our endless search for a new CEO goes on and on and on...Once we get a new top dog, hopefully things will start pulling together better.
