I haven't double checked, so I could be wrong, but I don't think that LCC is an official DOT term nor catagory.

Major is an official DOT catagory of airlines. SWA is most definitely a major.

I say again, the original poster might want to post this on the major forum, it'll get more responses there.

You guys are funny. I met with a SWA people department member at Higher Power in Oct and she said the official number is around 550. But then she said if they could find more planes to buy the number could be higher.

Thank you.....before this thread turned into a 10 page arguement whether or not SWA is an LCC.

So what? That doesn't NOT make them an LCC. Anyone can be a Major. Even Comair, Express Jet, and Sky West are majors. How does that define you as an airline? It doesn't. For SWA, LCC category does.

so, is it better to be a HCC? cause that model has worked stunningly well.

useless

This has to be one of the most useless threads I ever wasted my time reading. If you want to know the SWA numbers just call someone, or send me a pm. I can call a friend who is interviewing next week. Geez

Someone already answered the question. The number is about 550. This thread is done. Thank you.

HCC, now thats funny  . Maybe we should start a new board for LRC (low revenue carrier). Since SWA fits both major and LCC catagories it would only be fair for the other guys to have two boards.
