the facts are that we will see strong numbers in 2007-8.

Yeah, record aircraft orders and undercapacity, fueled by a strong interest in new regional jets to replace aging turboprops.

Speaking of FUELED...the price of gas is going up again. I think turbo-props are going to make a comeback.

Hey! If it is spread evenly my lawn should do great

A boom, I don't know. Does hiring at Southwest, JetBlue and Airtran count?

The total number of folks on furlough is not accurate anymore. Many have taken jobs elsewhere, gone back on active duty or left the profession. Those on furlough at United are bypassing like crazy. Some are waiting for a successful exit from BK or decent seniority to come back. Many furloughees have been taking the good jobs from 2003-2005. They will continue to dwindle in number and fresh faces will be in more demand. Then there are the retirements. Big numbers every year for years.

In 2007 I predict-

400+ at Southwest
250+ at Airtran
250+ at JetBlue
??? at CAL
??? at UAL

I think the big surprise might be DAL. It depends on how fast the deals are made there to stabilize the company.
