Paybe 50$ to interview? That seems kinda Gulfstream International-like.

He's full of ********************, don't give your money to this crook. Go to his website expressjetpilots.com and see how much of dick this guy is. All he does is sit around and edits post over there. If you post something in the wrong place he'll threaten you with his moderator tools. Im sick of paying for aviation junk. Im not going to give you 50 bucks so you can have dinner on me....

LOL! Yea, I'm such a jerk. I run a free forum for you to post and read your favorite rumors. That is just evil! LOL If you knew 1/2 of what you were talking about you'd know that I don't edit anything on that board, most of it is done by the moderators. Go fly your 172 back home and cry to momma!

This is why FI gets a bad name. If you really wanted to warn fellow users of this wasn't the way to do it.

I know that going to air-inc job fairs is a great way to get an interview with a lot of airlines. Does anyone know if that's true with this set up as well?

I'm not here to give you some sales job on why you should go to this job fair. To be honest I really had no prior interest in setting up job fairs. The members of Aviation Interviews.com kept emailing me asking me to set them up so they could get face time with the recruiters and not have to pay an arm and a leg to get it. This will be the 4th job fair I've set up and I've gotten mostly positive feedback from the previous 3.
Go here if you want to read some comments:

Am I trying to get rich from the job fair? Absolutely not! We cover the costs of hosting the job fair and then put the rest into a scholarship fund. It helps college students make it through flight school who aren't as fortunate as some of us that have parents who support our flying habit. So far we've given away $58,000 in scholarships over the last 3 years.

Aviation Interviews.com reputation of giving back to the aviation community speaks for itself. If you want to get your name and face in front of the recruiters, this is your chance to do it at 30-50% less than some other companies charge!

great job

Great job Mike.. thanks for all of us.. I think 50.00 is a bargain! For those of you who don't use avaitoninterview.com... i think you should!

Don't waste your breath with that guy Mike. You don't have to explain yourself. We all are greatful for the extra work you do. See you there.

I'm also curious as to what to expect from this job fair. Are the companies there to set up interviews? Are they there just to get their companies names out there?

I am in the process of trying to find a regional job and I just want to know if this is good way to try and get interviews.

Thanks for all the help.

Is there a chance of CAL attending?

Question

Mike

You said Cathay is coming. What is realistic hiring minimums for a second officer? I hear F.O.'s require about 4000 to 5000 hours with at least 2000 jet total hours and 1000 jet PIC multi crew heavier than 20,000kg.

Mike,

Do they do interviews/hiring on the spot? I've never been to one of these before.

Thanks
Yes, some do interviews on the spot. NetJets hired people on the spot at the Nashville job fair. I don't believe they are doing that this year.

The only one that has mentioned interviews at the show this year is Colgan. They set that up on their own, so I'm not directly involved with that.

I wouldn't say anyone is there to get their name out there. Most of these companies have been around the block and everyone already knows their name. They normally only show up if they are serious about hiring pilots.

As I posted above, Colgan mentioned interviews on site. The other companies will be taking resumes and if they are interested they will probably call you in for an interview. That's normally how it works.

I contacted CAL and they will not be at this job fair. They will more than likely be at the next one though!

To be honest I haven't researched their hiring minimums. I got an email from Carol (their pilot recruiter) that said the following:

"Is it at all possible to request attendants to complete one of our application forms to submit at the job fair, as opposed to resumes. Of course we will accept resumes but would prefer completed application forms.

Our website www.cathaypacific.com offers the ability to download an application form, following the prompts from Careers at the bottom of the home page, to First Officers or Second Officers etc

(fyi- or Second Officers are cruise relief pilots, not professional flight engineers)"

I would check out their web site and if you are serious about getting on with them, be sure you show up with their completed application like she said in the email.

Since 2003 we have done 1 per year. I plan to beef that up a bit and do 2 or 3 per year.
