Just remember, life isn't always fair. Over the course of our lives, we will all have ups and downs. Sounds to me like the guy you are talking about had a sharp rise, and a sharp fall. How he handles it will say a lot about what kind of person he is.

If it makes you feel any better, rumor has it that at the last Air Inc job fair, there were quite a few UAL furloughees who were surprised to learn that they didn't meet the minimum requirements for our company.

"But I used to fly for United!".

That was probably a shocker. . . . .

I try to keep things in perspective. During the last down market for pilots, I found myself working on the ramp for Fedex. When I am having a bad day, I try to frame it in that perspective.

A bad day in the cockpit still beats a good day on the ramp, Champ!
